Cannot adopt the original faith when you falsely confess to another faith no matter what happens,whether you are still a vassal of an infidel or actually independent.Tried to adopt original faith through secret society,still does not work.
Steps to reproduce the issue.
Disabled all mods,verified integrity of game files and confessed faith falsely in a new game,still cannot adopt the original faith.
