Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
When an unlanded non-dynasty heir to the Holy Roman Empire (HRE) succeeds the emperor upon death, the heir will inherit all titles (except kingdoms) held by the emperor. I did some testing with console commands to replicate the bug and found the following additional issues:
- If the emperor has no kingdom title, this results in game over regardless of whether there is another landed dynasty member on the map.
- If the emperor has a kingdom title, then only the titles outside the de jure kingdom are taken by the heir.
- If the emperor has a kingdom title but all the titles are outside the de jure kingdom, then all the titles are taken by the heir and a single province in the de jure kingdom is allocated to the new king.
This bug does not happen when a non-dynasty heir to the HRE is landed. However, there's a few side additional problems noticed:
- If the duke held more than two duchies and has Feudal Elective, succession law of the duchy switches to primogeniture. This does not seem to happen if the duke only has a single duchy title.
- If the emperor dies but lost the HRE title (hopefully not to an unlanded non-dynasty heir), succession law of the duchy reverts back to normal.
Below are the main steps I did to reproduce the bug via console command: I also included images that compare what titles are lost to a landed or unlanded non-dynasty heir.
Steps to reproduce the issue.
1. Start in Charlemagne bookmark (769) as Karl (6392).
2. Form HRE.
3. Give strong claim of HRE to an unlanded character eligble for nomination. What I did was legitimize Pepin (90094) first and then give the claim to Pepin (194174).
4. Nominate a duke of another dynasty with children as Emperor.
5. Switch to play as the duke.
6. Kill Karl (6392). The duke is now Emperor.
7. Nominate Pepin (194174) as heir to HRE.
8. Kill the Emperor.
9. Game over.
