One line summary of your issue
Full status of women laws does not allow matrilineal marriage for muslims

Game Version
CK II 3.0.1

What expansions do you have installed?
All of the above

Do you have mods enabled?
No

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
Having your status of women realm law set to full still does not allow matrilineal marriages, even if you can have female rulers.

Steps to reproduce the issue.
Set your status of women law to full, try to marry, the matrilineal option does not show up.

Haven't checked in the 3.0s, but previously, both sides of the diplo screen has to allow matri marriage. So you won't be able to ask other muslims (even within your own realm) for a matri marriage, but you are able to set them up within your court / with other religions.

I don't think that the full status of women law is supposed to allow matrilineal marriage.
The absolute cognatic gender law should allow it though, considering that when you switch to that law, it specifically says "religion now allows matrilineal marriages". And that's the problem I'm having...

For me it doesn't work within my court/with other religions as well...

I posted a bug report about this a couple weeks ago:
https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/foru...te-cognatic-cant-marry-matrilineally.1131484/

The tooltip when you change the succession law says "religion now allows matrilineal marriage" but there's a line in the government file that disallows it. I'm not sure how the different files interact but I wonder if this causes the issue, since Christian republics have the same problem.

The governments flag has always been there, at least since v2.3 (3 years back, when I have memory of modding matri marriages), and is set the same way in 2.8 (i.e. allows_matrilineal_marriage = no )

So if things broke in 3.0 it broke somewhere in the backend, since this did work in 2.8 as you noted (for Muslims, not for MRs)

Theres some other screwy stuff going on with the gender laws I think - I need to figure out how to reproduce a reset to Agnatic after inheritance I got once (that I couldn't switch back to because something badly broke)

I am experiencing the same issue. Do we have any updates on this issue, Paradox? It is such a major issue with such a simple fix, yet we have heard nothing from you... :(
