Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
You can load a save in ironman with no character selected, making you "play" as no character. Since it is ironman, doing this overwrites the normal ruler and you can't select it back.
Steps to reproduce the issue.
1. Singleplayer -> New game -> custom game setup
2. "Load Save" in the top-left corner
3. Select an ironman save (that will be made more or less unusable in the process)
4. Toggle "view republic" to deselect your character
5. Click on the ironman icon on the "play" button. You are not allowed to click on the play button directly, but clicking on the icon allows you to launch the game anyway.
