Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
This is not hard to explain, or reproduce. Children born legitimately of a patrilineal marriage receive their father's culture, yet, bastards born to unmarried courtier lovers and then legitimized still have their father's culture. Obviously, if I am legitimizing them upon birth, and educating them myself, in my court of my same culture, they should default to that culture.
Perhaps, recognized but not legitimized bastards should also receive the father's culture. It would certainly make sense, since I am recognizing them and educating them, and also in the sense that their mothers would rather position their children as bastards than as foreigner bastards, if they have no same-tier claims in their maternal culture realm.
As it is, this does create a cheesy pathway to choosing the culture of your heir, as long as you are willing to suffer having a legitimized bastard as an heir.
Steps to reproduce the issue.
- Have a bastard with an unmarried courtier of a different culture, and legitimize the bastard upon birth
- Observe that the legitimized bastard has the culture of their unmarried adulteress mother, and not the culture of the father or of the court / region when these are the same. Pic unrelated.
