Hello,
I have been playing with a merchant Republic (reformed from a tribe) but recently I cannot designate any heir anymore.
When I click the 'title' in the council menu I get a list of my Kinsmen, Which I normally should be able to select (or so I think). When I select one of them, I jump back to my council menu but no one is selected as my heir.

In addition it is also not possible for me to grant the title by using 'right-click' on a kinsmens portrait and grant the designated heir title as an honorary title.

Is this a bug?
Else what is causing this behaviour?

Thanks in advance for helping me

Steps to reproduce the issue.
1. Open Savegame
2. Open Council tab
3. Minor Titles
4. Click Desginated Heir
5. Select Kinsman
6./// BUG /// No kinsman is selected

Hello,
I am not an empire so I don't see why it is not working. In addition I am a Christian ruler, so that should also not be a problem.
Any other ideas on what can cause this ?

Didnt the sucession law changed? like, primogeniture or something? That's the usual for christians, altough starting in the firsr possible date makes everyone a gavelking thus not indicating possible.
As a merchant republic, i think that's also it, your primogeniture is your heir, and he is the heir to the "doge". Only played republic once, you get to op quick, and just need money to bribe and kill others in order to maintain the Much fun, much apreciated status
