Mozarabic Characters Think Their Own Religion is Astray

1.6.1.1

What OS are you playing on?
Windows

What platform are you using?
Steam

What DLC do you have installed?
Royal Court,

Do you have mods enabled?
No

Have you tried verifying your game files (Steam only)?
Yes

Mozarabic Characters in my game think their own religion is Astray, causing -5 opinion, + -35 if they're Zealous despite me having the same religion as them.

Please explain how to reproduce the issue
1. Be Mozarabic
2. Look at other Mozarabs' Opinion
3. Look at Zealous Mozarabs' Opinion

Is there anything else you think could help us identify/replicate the issue?

I have attached a save game

I assume it's WAD, as the Rite tenet (which Mozarabs have) has 'opinion_of_same_faith = 5' as one of its parameters.
Well, no: same faith should always consider themself righteous (as it is currently implemented anyway, maybe it will be different in the future) and more importantly, the same faith opinion bonus isn't there in the screenshots. It's really weird.

That said, when I load the save, the bug is there, sure. But I can't reproduce it in my game. Is this an old save by any chance? From 1.6.0.1 maybe?

Edit: My mistake, the bug is very real. I had not disabled my mods, and one of them was preventing the bug from happening.

I can also confirm this issue is impacting Insular Christians in the same way where they consider other Insular Christians to be astray despite being the same religion.

Two of those screenshots are from my current Hæsteinn game, and one is from a non-Ironman Fate of Iberia game I started (and never continued) to see if I can replicate the bug, and I can confirm both games are new 1.6.1.1 saves

Damn. I was kinda hoping it was the same bug as the culture and innovation ones, which seem to be caused by the addition of a new culture, innovation and religion (between 1.6.0 and 1.6.1) messing up 1.6.0 saves.

So then, do you remember at what moment the bug starts? Is it after taking a decision, switching religion (not just faith), gaining a higher rank or anything else?

The bug started as soon as I became Mozarabic. Like, that's it. It happened when I converted to the local culture and religion in my Hæsteinn game, and when I tested it using the Fate of Iberia game, I picked the Count of Salamanqa (who was Mozarabic at 867) and the bug was there at the start.

Ok, I just tested that and I get the bug too now... I'll try testing a few more things.

Edit: Alright, I think I figured out why. A new parameter was added to the Rite tenet: same_hof_hostility_override = 1 which basically translates as "all faiths that have the same HoF as us are Astray." Problem is, that includes the "original" faith itself, so in this case, Mozarabism. Insularism also has Rite, so they have the bug too.

Yesterday I resumed a game I began before the latest patch, having waited for my mods to update to the latest version. My character is Mozarabic, and suddenly all other Mozarabic characters have a -5 opinion modifier even though they share the same faith. The zealous characters, as the OP noted, are even more intense in their new dislike for their co-religionists.

So the bug ‘began’ the instant I opened the game.

It's a bug with the Rite tenet; the parameter that causes it was introduced in the 1.6.1 patch. Hopefully it is fixed soon. :(

Hopefully this gets fixed soon, this is making things almost unplayable with incessant factions. Really hope this doesn't ruin my run 3/4 of the way to converting all of Iberia to Mozarabism...

Can confirm this bug still persists in 1.6.1.2. and the problem is indeed the Rite tenet. Kinda hope they can still fix this before their (well-deserved) summer break, unlike some of the fixes in the latest updates this issue seems to be rather obvious and easy to fix.

I changed this to 0 and am currently going with that. It is a little wonky but certainly better than folks with Rite hating their own religion faith. Does anyone know if this is the best workaround for now?
That's what I use too. And I kinda like it this way.

Hello, thank you for reporting. We have already passed this on to the devs so it will be worked on as soon as possible. Currently they are on summer holidays but we will continue to collect your reports and pass them on so these issues can be resolved. Thanks! o7
