Please explain the issue you experienced in the most condensed way possible
Game crashes to the desktop seemingly at random while interacting with it. Sometimes restarting it will report checksum or game save corruption. This latter issue goes away if I fully restart steam / or my system.

Please explain how to reproduce the issue
The issue occurs randomly while interacting with the game. No specific action seems to trigger it. I typically play with Ironman enabled and cloud save on. However, the issue occurs at the same frequency when cloud save off. I usually run with the client in windowed mode but have tested it in full screen too and it made no difference.

Is there anything else you think could help us identify/replicate the issue?

I was besieging a city. Game speed was set to the fastest setting. Steam showed the game was still running even after it closed. Clicking stop in steam resulted in the game launcher screen opening.

Troubleshooting tried so far:
1. Verified integrity of game files
2. Performed a clean uninstall and reinstall
3. Reinstalled the video drivers
4. Tested to see if the issue also occurs while my VPN is off and found it made no difference
5. Tested the client in both windowed and full screen. That also made no difference.
6. I also tested the issue across several fresh save gamers. Again no difference in the frequency.

I am not having issues with other games and did not have issues with Crusader Kings 3 until the 1.5.1.1 (Fleur-de-lis) update.

i cant even get into the game, it just crashes to desktop when i try to start it, ive done everything i can think of, even reinstalled the game and still nothing.
 
I deleted the steam cloud save cache, and found several save files the game client was not seeing while doing it. It seems more stable so far but i did have one crash.
 
I have only had one crash after clearing the cloud save cache. This is the process i used:
Steps:

  1. In Steam > Settings > Cloud, disable Steam cloud sync. We don't want Steam to restore the files we're about to delete.
  2. Exit Steam completely.
  3. Go to the following location: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata
  4. You should see a folder with a name made up of lots of numbers. That's your Steam ID, and holds all the save data associated with your Steam account. Go into that folder.
  5. Find the folder named with your game code below (CK3 AppID 1158310). That's the App ID for your game. Go into that folder, then go into the "remote" folder.
  6. When you see the UserData.sav folder, delete it.
