How much "pain" is this causing you?
1
Please explain the issue you experienced in the most condensed way possible
Previous ruler (father of current PC) made his eldest son the court priest (volkhv) because he had the highest learning in the realm (and uh, to make sure this deceitful bugger didn't inherit a thing).
Current ruler want to remedy that, replaced his brother on the council and granted him a Duchy - all on the same day. This made the brother a theocratic vassal. See screenshot (Theocracy.jpg).
Please explain how to reproduce the issue
1) Load attached savegame and do not unpause
2) Replace court volkhv
3) Grant replaced volkhv (in this case PC's older brother) the Duchy of Nitra (or whatever title you like)
4) ...
5) Profit, you now have a brand new theocratic vassal
If you do step 1) and 2), unpause for a day, and then check the brother, you'll see he changed his volkhv outfit for a regular one. Granting him a title then will make him a regular vassal.
For me, there's no pain in this. Knowing this "loophole" now makes it actually a good thing - finally a (temporary) way to create a theocratic vassal without a hassle (except for a possible cooldown on the court chaplain position, depending on faith).
However, I can imagine unexpectedly doing this with the person you would like the be your heir (or even worse, the person being your only heir) would make it much worse though.
(Just to be clear - the other Theocratic Vassal I have in this save became one by granting some guy the county of Sankt Polten first - since there's only a church in there he became Theocratic, as was my intention. The described situation with PC's older brother caught me off guard though)
Is there anything else you think could help us identify/replicate the issue?
I reckon it takes a night for the previous court priest to burn the priest outfit, find his regular clothes, cry a bit about losing his council position, sleep on it and only then to wake up as a regular courtier.
Or in other words: it takes the game a day tick to see the changed status on the priest.
I have attached a save game
