CK on Vista keeps crashing

Hi, I recently bought a new computer. Unfortunately I couldn't get XP anymore so it had to be Vista (other word for garbage!). Anyway I tried playing CK on it. It always works fine for a while then it crashes, it doesn't seem to matter which of the Kingdoms (or Duchies or whatever) I play it runs for some 20 to 60 years and crashes. The last one I tried was England it worked from 1066 to 1105 and crashed and then kept crashing at roughly the same point (give or take a couple of months) over and over

Is there any way to play CK on Vista or is it another thing I need to give up now that I have Vista?

It may not be an OS problem entirely, as CK runs just fine on my Vista comp. Try the usual gamut of Vista program trouble fixes, turn off UAC, set compatability mode to XP, check your drivers etc.

Wish I could be more help, best I can recommend is rolling back to XP....

Well I tried turning off the UAC, but that didn't do it. Let me see what I can do with the compatibility... I miss XP, never thought I would ever say that but ever since I got the new computer Vista has been nothing but trouble. Vista is like buying a computer with a virus already installed on it...

I don't think the crashes have anything to do with Vista.

My game is much more stable on Vista then it was on XP.

Have you installed the latest beta-patch for CK DV ? Which has fixed most of the crashes

Not really sure if you have DV or not. But plain CK was very stable so do you have any other programs running in the background ?

I admit, I don't know if it was because of Vista. It was just an assumption. While CK occasionally crashed also on my old computer, it wasn't until I had it on my new one that every single game I tried ends up crashing...

What do you want to try ?

Remember that the beta-patch is for Deus Vult, if you only have Crusader Kings (so without the expansion pack) then the beta-patch is of no use to you.
