I withdraw my lance (meaning not to make too much of a mess on the floor!) and switch my support to "The CrusadAAR's Chalice"! :D

Also, I might recommend starting with the earlier ones (the first 1/2 year when AARs were finished?) and moving toward present day. That way, there is a little more time for them to settle down and be recognized as outstanding.

Hmmm...ChAARlemagne's Crown? Maybe too long.

So besides the name issue, is there anything else? Has anyone done a rough count of how many AARs were completed in those time periods?

anonymous - recall that CatKnight said he was working on that. It takes some time to go through all the AARs written since CK came out.

And I think I am leaning more towards CrusadAARs Crown, but Chalice works too.

I know CatKnight said he'd do the list, but just to give an idea here is a list from a quick glance through the LibrAARy of AARs eligible for January - June 2006. :)

If the Boot Fits…An Apulian AAR by angry clown
A Line of True Bastards by Dead William
The Saga of Medlepad by Dibblet54
History of the Croatian Peoples by Henry v. Keiper
The Book of Years, a History of Sweden by Lord Orpon
Missing that One Final Screw - A Bavarian Pre/Sequel by Rocketman
The Fitzgeralds, Earls of Desmond by RossN
The Last Lombard Princes of Italy by Veldmaarschaalk
The Gerulfing Saga by Veldmaarschaalk
The true history of the house von Habsburg by Veldmaarschaalk

And for July - December 2005

Knight-Mages of Bavaria by anthonyp
May Our Reign Be Green and Golden: County of Agder by Jestor
Another Quest for the Holy Grail(a Northampton adventure) by Joohoo
Hispania Victrix: Castilla 1337 by Judas Maccabeus
The Song of the van Braunschweigs by Kenaston
Saga of Halland by Northern Viking
The Crusader Mafia: A Neapolitan AAR by Shy Kid
Tannat: a diary of the Count of Labourd by magritte
The New Mega-Campaign by Mr. Capiatlist

And that's just AARs listed as completed.

The library is not completely up to date

My AAR 'The Gerulfing Saga' was completed on june 1st 2006.

'The true history of the house von Habsburg' has also finished, but that was just 2 weeks ago.

My mistake. Your Habsburg AAR was completed on June 30th, so will also be eligible for the period. I've added both to the list.

Yeah, those a pretty strong lists. There is probably much more backlogged that many of us have forgotten which is part of the fun of holdings these for work long completed.

And by the way - Fiftypence - you don't get told enough (or at all AFAIK), but thanks for the work you do in keeping up the CK librAARy. It's an unsung type of job but the place us better for it. Thanks. :)

We'll close voting tomorrow. I voted too :)

The only other thing to decide is where to begin. Fiftypence's lists seem to show that CK can support nominations/awards every six months.

Now, shall we start at Jan-Jun 06 and work our way back, or pick some point in the past and work our way forward? Do we want to just group say... 2004... together, or prepare an award for each six month period?

CrusadAAR's Chalice it is!

I apologize for not updating earlier. The last week has been....interesting. I'm beginning to have much more appreciation for the 'stressed' trait. :)

The first Chalice will cover AARs completed between January and June, 2006. After that we will begin backtracking. At first glance (I still have to look over those AARs), I could see Chalices for 2004, and the first and second halves of 2005.

I show ten AARs qualifying for the January-June 2006 award. I'll post those tomorrow, along with my criteria. If looking over the last hundred or so threads for eligible AARs has taught me anything, it's the wonderful variety to be found in CK. It also looks like business is 'picking up.' The Chalice for late 2006 might have a lot of entries!

Too bad I didn't see this in time to vote, but the winning name is a good one. :)

Great news, CatKnight. And I know what you mean about seeing the diversity by reading through many past and present works. This place has all kinds. :D

I'm looking forward to see this get off the ground, and once again - thanks for taking the reins and moving this project along. A true member you are, sir! :D
