Why not both?:p

one with all the crusades and another with a start in 1204 in order to give a more accurate acount of the various events of this particular period (Latin Byzantine Empire, the Albigensian crusade, the Ghelfes and Ghibellins, the reconquista, Monghol invasion in Russia...)

A game with a name like Crusader Kings must have the Third Crusade as a scenario, with Saladin and Richard Lionheart (and a dry Frederik Barbarossa...:p)

1190 (or 1185) please!!!

It won't give the correct people in the correct stuations once you're past 1066 :)

Well I guess we still have to see how quickly things deviate from history in the game. I suppose we won´t have the massive influence that was possible in EU but I´m guessing things will be derailed pretty quick, after 50 years or so not much should be in common with history.

Yep. After 50 years you are in the middle of an entire new generation, where none of the flukes of real life (but many other new ones) have happened. This is one of the things it will be really exciting to explore once I get to play the game :)

Actually 50 years would be 2 generations as some things should be more or less predestined to happen during the following generation. Alliances and marriages aren´t exactly spur of the moment descisions.

I ment "entire new" as if the first of the two generations you mention are not entire new... ;)

A double-edged sword though. Soon we'll be sitting there, cursing: "Why he h... don't his happend as in history"... :D

Edit: Oeeer! 7000 posts!

This is why I wanted to try to plot everything on a timeline. That way we could just look at a picture of some kind and go OOH start date

but you guys know enough about history that I think we're getting a good idea of where the scenarios could be :)

Whats the latest possible start date? In EU2 i think the latest scenario started maybe in 1795 or so? Around Napoleon I think.

Congratulations on your post count Havard. I guess you can have two custom avatars now. :p

Well I suppose the rise and fall of Jean d´Arc could be made a scenario.

For one year and a half?! :D

I'd like a couple of short scenarios, maybe a Guelf and Ghibilline scenario lasting until the RL destruction of the Hohenstaufens. The others that might be interesting (from a sales point of view) have been mentioned: Mongol invasion of Russia, Turkish invasion and Timourid invasion (well maybe not the last one). Very short scenarios for the Crusades would also be interesting, especially if they deal with only a single Crusade, something that is possible to play in a single evening for the people with a life.

Civil wars in Germany, France and England maybe interesting but not if there are not enough provinces in the area.

1266 - the Pope invites the French to rid southern Italy of the Hohenstaufen.

1282 - from the Sicilian Vespers onward - try to keep control of Siciliy in French hands.

1248 - the first crusade of Saint Louis. (Simon de Montfort starts barons revolt in a few years in England).

1272 - Edward I of England gets to have atry at the Welsh and Scots.

1135 - Stephen & Matilda fight over rule of England (along with the future Henry II).

:)
