CK won't start???

Just downloaded CK2 off steam and it won't start. I've tryed re-installing it 3 times, and yes my computer is up to spec, can run most new games att max.

All that hapnes is i get to the first screen where it says "welcome to CK2" check for updates and so on... and when I hit "start CK2" I hear like 1 second of music start, it flashes black then goes to desktop.
Anyone know how to get past this?
 
Try to run the ck2.exe directly instead of from within Steam. If you have installed it in the default place, the path will be: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\crusader kings ii
 
From what i can figure out the crash has something to do with resolution. IE when you have a HDMI cable in it gives bad feedback to the game. Other things might cause it as well like a weird drivr to your monitor. But I'm just guessing. I saw some stuff in other threads that didn't help me but might help you, like forceing it to start in 640x 480. But i'm guessing this should be patched SOON! I'm getting anyed at having to rip out my HDMI everytime i want to play...
 
The 1.03b patch is out that may fix this, try it.

Thanks for that tip; that worked for me. Mighty annoying that I have to do that though!
