CK: World War 0,5?

Hi,
I´ve started with crusader kings (+dv +dvip) a few days ago and i really love the dynasty system, but there is a one big thing that keeps me from having fun with the game:
I´m playing at Coward and Very Easy to get started but it seems the whole world is constantly at war with each other. Germany is attacking or is attacked every month by its vassals; Poland declares war on me every year (as castille!) and the muslim are attacking constantly.
My reputation is mostly on the best level. (I just take 1 or 2 heathen provinces at peace). My manpower is four times bigger as those little muslim duchies that constantly attack me.
I never ally anyone anymore because they declare war like crazy. Its understandable that there´s a lot of war in iberia, but the wild war declarations against me forced me to take most of spain in the first 10 years.

Is there maybe something wrong with my installation or is this AI behavior normal?


Edit: And about the crusades: The pope called for a crusade to liberate alexandria, which happened (croatia holds it and is at peace) but it doesn´t end.

i think it takes time for the crusade to end, the more provinces around alexandria that christians control, the faster it will go

1. Yes that is somewhat normal AI behaviour. That you see so many wars may come from the fact that you are playing on very easy, this level makes the grabcost of titles very low, which results in a lot of claims which then lead to wars. Try to play on Normal and then see if it goes better.

2. Crusades start and end by events, they don't automatically end when the target is taken. Sometimes it ends after a few months, sometimes it ends after a couple of years (can be even more then 10 years).

The more provinces around the crusade-target that are in christian hands the more likelier it is that the Crusade will end.

You also tend to get involved in less major wars if your state is larger.

The larger your nation the greater the threat from within the lesser the threat from outside of your nation.

CK has a good model of the fractiousness of feudal vassals, but unfortunately it does badly at modelling the reasons they were fractious, namely that they stood a pretty good chance of holding their own in a fight with their liege.
