CK2 crashes on Startup

Hi,
Apologies if this is not the right forum - I couldn't see a tech one. I've just bought CK2, however, ti always crashes during the initial loading (when "loading flags"). I've tried a completely fresh install (including deleting the additional "My Documents" files), tried deleting the flags folder on a fresh install, added it to my anti-virus exceptions, verified the cache, done the run dxsetup.exe and run vcredist.exe fixes, and uploaded a load of recommended microsoft patches. Still not working I've done a search and I can't find anything else to try.

Tech support forum is right on top of the page. If you look below the ad banner at the list of subforums it is the topmost (underneath the ad for the webshop).
I had the exact same issue as you just this month. Try disabling your antivirus entirely, then launch the game. That fixed it for me. Afterwards you can enable the antivirus again, and the game should still launch fine. At least it does for me now.

He has the CK2 icon underneath his profile name, which means he has registered the game and should be able to see it.

Please look in Documents/paradox/ck2/gfx/flags/ folder. There should be two .txt files and 3 or more .tga files there.

If there are no .tga files there, that is the problem. An antivirus app is getting in the way of the game creating those files. Avast and AVG are famous for this.

Either you need to unload that AV app then run the game so it can make those files, or we have to make them separately. Sometimes users have installed the game on some other computer, let it make those files, and copy them across.
