Hello everyone, just thought I'd note this one down in case someone else runs into it:

Scenario description:

The computer the game is installed on has or had multiple monitors when the game was installed, and the resolutions in the monitors are not uniform. In my case when the game was installed the primary display was running at 1920x1200 , when the screen in question broke down it was replaced by the formerly secondary display running at 1920x1080.

--> The settings.txt file still has the old primary display resolution listed, and it's higher than the new monitor can support. Also the settings.txt did not seem to get replaced with installs (or it wouldn't have inserted references to resolutions/display devices which do not exist on the system?), thus reinstalling the game will not help.

--> Solution: manually edit the settings.txt file (on W7 found under my documents\paradox\etc. etc.) to a supported resolution, play the game.

Yes, or just delete settings.txt and the game will write a new, valid one.
