Hello, my converter crashes by 54%, I tried different versions with and without dls, tried to wind the game +50 years, always the same 54% crash, tell me what could be the problem?
No mods.
The save file is visible like this # 3 Maybe it's the problem?
Win 64 last udate.
#4 The save file itself

Cannot reproduce, which is unfortunate. Error is with your eu4 installation. I suggest uninstalling eu4, then deleting the leftovers (which are probably the issue here) from steam install folder, and then reinstalling.

Hi Team,

Thanks so much for the converter but when I run ConverterFrontend.exe I get the error "Unhandled unknown exception, terminating the application". Both my CK2 and EU4 are the latest versions. CK2 has a couple of mods but nothing big, and EU4 has no mods since I haven't played it much and was hoping to use my CK2 playthrough as a springboard to get into EU4. The instructions did not stipulate where to extract the converter files to, so I tried it once from a folder on my desktop, and then from instide the CK2 mods folder, with the same result.

I appreciate any help you can provide!

Edit: I could not find an error.txt file so I did not include it.

From the log it appears as if you entered either a blank space for the output name or a character that could not be converted to ascii. Check that "output name" field and be sure it's empty. Delete whitespace characters if you see them.

But I have not entered anything. I simply downloaded the zip, extracted it to a folder and double clicked on the ConverterFrontend.exe file and that message comes up. I followed the instructions on the Steam workshop page. It does not mention having to edit anything that I saw.

My mistake. You appear to have ran the converter itself and not the frontend which is needed to setup the conversion. Be sure you have unpacked the entire zip file while maintaining directory structure into a new folder, that you don't have buggy antivirus programs like Avast or AVG enabled while running the converter (or just whitelist the converter in them) and run the ConverterFrontend.exe and not CK2ToEU4Converter.exe.

If it still doesn't work, upload some screenshots of what you are doing and what went wrong. Thanx.

Sorry again but that is precisely what I have already done. I unpacked the zip and ran ConverterFrontend.exe, and that produced the error message I referred to in my first post. I'm not at my PC at the moment but all it did was show a dialog box containing the error message "Unhandled unknown exception, terminating the application". I also happened to run CK2ToEU4Converter.exe but that made a dos box pop up for a moment and did nothing. As far as I understand it I am following the installation instructions to the letter.

Thanks again

ConverterFrontend.exe generally doesn't crash unless it misses its dll files which should be in the zip file with it. It is known to happen that antivirus programs can just delete stuff from the zip file while it's being downloaded, please disable them. Also, it wouldn't hurt to run VC_redist.x64.exe inside the converter's folder. After you've done all that and if it still does not work, please upload the screenshot of the error and the folder where you unpacked the converter.

Thanks I'll give those a try this evening and let you know :)

I gave it another try and still not successful. Clicking on ConverterFrontend.exe generates the same message as before. I have attached it, as well as log.txt which looks the same as before. I have also counted that all files in the zip extracted successfully. I'm only using Windows native antivirus, nothing else.

Thanks

EDIT: First thing I did was run VC_redist.x64.exe and it installed successfully.

"and the folder where you unpacked the converter." The log file you are uploading is an internal log created by the converter, not the frontend. Frontend has its own log, also named log.txt in the directory above. If you unpacked everything into the same directory, it won't work. I need to see the screenshot.

Just started using this mod for a conversion game, and it looks great. I really appreciate how national ideas actually are actually applied well.

One problem that I haven't figured out though, that my ruler doesn't seem to convert, always appearing as "no ruler". I'm playing a Charlemagne start and have been HREmperor the whole game and am playing with a shattered HRE in the converter.

The weird thing is, there are extensions of my dynasty that I've placed on other thrones and they're perfectly fine. It's just my ruler that doesn't seem to convert.

Shattering is inherently imprecise. You can be HREmperor ruling out of a barony, and then wouldn't get concerted as baronies are integrated. If it really bothers you I can take a peek at what's going on, but generally speaking, ruling multiple empires (HRE and one other) is known to mess things up, as well as potentially having kingdoms and so on. It all depends.

If I start a war in ck2(all types of: regular, jihad or crusade) and right after convert to eu4, does these wars convert into eu4?
We do not convert wars.

Okay I have now attached two pictures to show how I unzipped the files. I created a folder on my desktop called "CK2toEU4 Converter" and unzipped the files into there. One folder beneath is the folder "CK2toEU4" which is the highest folder in the zip. I have also included the log.txt file one folder above the one I attached before. Since it has only two lines and they don't appear to be logged errors, I thought it was unimportant before but here it is.

Thanks again

Yeah, so, all looks well from over here. Filesizes look right, all files in place. If it crashes then the issue is either with the computer memory/windows/windows defender or something else. I'm out of ideas. Why not download any other converter and see if they work? If they all crash then issue is definitely on your end.

Hi I'm having some issues with the converter, before even converting. Firstly, I am absolutely shoddy with this kind of stuff, but I'm having an issue with the pathing to the converter executable, and I have no idea why. I path it to the folder where CK2toEU4Converter.exe is but the Frontend converter says it can't find the converter folder, I've re downloaded it, I've put it in different areas in case that made a difference, but nothing seems to work. I know the page asks to post the log.txt but all it says is error so I'm pretty sure it's not very relevant.

Your paths should look something like this:

Depending on where you unpacked it. If the paths are not auto-filled, you may have unpacked it wrong. Also, your antivirus may be blocking/deleting the converter, so whitelist it with the antivirus.
