Playing CK3 with standard settings causes the GPU to inexplicably overheat and, more often than not, cause full system reboots. My machine is less than 1 month old, and I've had no such performance issues with any other (arguably more resource intensive) games. Turning graphics settings to low causes marginal improvements but textures look terrible. From launching the game and the main menu, up until the point of closing, the GPU fans are pretty much constantly running at 100%.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Dan

My wider spec is below:

CPU: Ryzen 7 3700 x
RAM: 32GB
GPU: Radeon RX 5700 XT

Note overheating is a cooling problem not a game problem. Fix your cooling situation. Clean your fans. Change your fan spin profiles. Get more airflow. The game is not responsible for your card overheating

It surely is a "game problem" when my GPU (which is well within the recommended spec) is overheating exclusively when playing CK3?

As I mentioned in my original note, my machine works perfectly well in every other situation with no overheating, which would suggest there is a problem with CK3 running on my machine (over-burdening the GPU) - rather than a cooling problem.

Your GPU and CPU are designed to run at 100% for years. If they are properly cooled. If your system is overheating then that’s a cooling problem not a game problem. Your system has to be able to handle 100% CPU and GPU utilization.

What are your actual CPU and GPU temps.

also full system reboots are indicative of low level problems including driver, OS or hardware problems like overhearing
