When I have a Paradox game installed there is always a Crusader Kings II folder in My Documents, no matter what game it is. If I delete it it appears again after some minutes. I cleaned the registry but it keeps coming back.

I once had the smiliar issue with a game on Origin, where an unused download path lead to this folder and Origin always re-created it to make sure that there is a folder for the downloads, even if the game itself wasn't installed. After I changed the path the folder did not come back. But I can't find such a path for CKII on Steam so I wonder why this folder keeps coming back again and again.

It's not a huge problem of course, but I'd like to know why it is how it is and how I can delete this folder forever.

The game deliberately creates that folder so it can store its settings and saves games. If it cannot create it, it won't even start up.

Disclaimer: I'm not tech support. Just another forum member.

But the game is not installed... why would it create a folder if it's not installed?!

Did you uninstall the game through Steam or did you delete the folder manually only ?

Do also mods get downloaded ?

Brainstorming:
I could imagine that Steam...well that i does a lot when the "Automatic Updates" option for the games is "Alyways" or "High Prio" combined with
"cloud synchronisation" and that then Workshop mods might get downloaded no matter what and then this folder gets created while Steam is running.
Just my imagination gone wild ? I don't know...

Clearly I've misunderstood something. You are saying some other game creates a CK2 folder in Documents?

If so, the only one I can think of would be EU4, for the converter functionality.

I'm currently at work. I'll have a look at this when I'm home. But as far as I remember I deactivated cloud synchronisation a while ago.

Yes EU4 definitaly does that. I don't know if Stellaris or HoI IV would do the same. Haven't installed these at the moment. But the converter could be a reason. It's not a big problem though, I just want to know *why* it appears again and again no matter how often I try to delete it.
