Hi there,
Since CKII is free-to-play (and since I purchased Victoria II too but i don't think that could causes the issue), I can't launch my game:
I click on "play" in the Steam library, then a white CKII window pops and it suddenly closes. Steam writes "Game launched" (or something like that, my Steam is in french) for a few seconds, then it writes "Synchronisation" for one second or two, but finally mygame isn't lauched !
I tried to uninstall/reinstall it, I reinstalled it on another disk, I reinstalled Steam but it doesn't work...
I need your help crusaders !
Thanks for your answers

I'm having precisely the same issue. It worked perfectly fine until today, been playing it almost daily. It worked perfectly fine until today, been playing it almost daily for years on end. This never happened to me before, my system is more than capable of running it. Disabling fullscreen optimization didn't solve anything, sadly. I have all the updates applied to date, for both the OS and drivers.

EDIT: Thank you for the advice and links, AndrewT! I managed to get the game up and running again. Thank you as well, Aardvark for being so welcoming and understanding with a fellow forum member.

Please don't post in other peoples tech support thread.
"Me too" posts don't help and only add to confusion regarding the actual support investigation.

Install ALL these Microsoft modules:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/download/details.aspx?id=8328
https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/download/details.aspx?id=13523
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=52685
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109
(run dxsetup.exe after extracting from this download)

IF still no good: Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-EU4
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/EU4 AND Documents/Paradox/EU4 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add EU4.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam EU4 or Documents EU4 locations, before installing again.

Thanks for your answer, I'll try your fixes this evening, but I don't understand the deal with EU4.
Is EU4's installation having issues with CK2 ? Or did you mean CK2 ?
Thank you

Sorry, I pasted the wrong text in - just substitute CK2 for EU4, it is the same file structure.

The method with Microsoft's modules didn't worked but the second one with the total clean up worked !!!
Thank you very much my hero !
Hope this will help peaople with the same problem :)
