I read a post on Reddit that seems to suggests that CO has invited content creators like CCP to their HQ for something. What are the communities thoughts on this if this is true?

I hope someone who is invited actually represents fans of the City Skylines franschise and city building in general, not just fans of the existing game. And that they gain useful information out of this, rather than a round of nodding heads and leaving.

That being said, never trust content creators in general with anything unless proven trustworthy. They can’t bite the hand that feeds them or even nibble (and I don’t blame them tbh as long as they are respectful to the whole community)

I didn't realise this was a secret. CPP has been talking about a trip to Finland for weeks, if not months.

Paradox and CO have for a long time reached out to YouTubers / other streamers to get a sense for where to take their games. I'm always a little sceptical, since I think there's an intrinsic lack of alignment between the needs of streamers - particularly the biggest streamers - and the needs of gamers.

I think Paradox's focus on streamers is one of the root causes of them increasingly putting out games that look good, but with hollowed out gameplay, suitable for streamers to use as blank canvases for their role-playing and/or meme runs. (A risky strategy, since streamers are fickle and won't stream truly unpopular games.)

It seems that CPP is taking his role as ambassador-for-the-players quite seriously, though, to his credit. I guess we'll see. My hopes are low, not because of CPP, but because of CO and Paradox.

CPP is an excellent choice to represent us. He understands all the needs for the various types of gamers that play CS2. At least that was my takeaway when I asked him about this a few months ago in one of his Twitch streams. He has my full trust and support.

I'm jealous of them getting to go to Finland. I've always wanted to go see the country where my half of my family is from. I think the idea is mostly a PR thing because they already did this earlier in the year without the travel. I think it will depend on what they are allowed to report back. I expect they will be given a tour of the company, and they will be given a glimpse into the future of the game. We'll most likely hear some interesting bits about the development of the game, and hopefully some clues on it's future direction. I think they'll be given insights on how the game is developed so they can share it with the rest of us. Although anything they report back will be taken with a grain of salt to put it mildly.

I'm curious to see what will become of their visit. I know that them visiting will have no negative impact on the development of the game. They said they take all feedback seriously. Plus them visiting for a day or two won't impact when we get the asset editor or any other major DLC. They do open themselves up to criticism though. Some people will blow this out of proportion but at the end of the day it's a glorified pizza party at their company, at least imo.

Lack of trust? ROTFL Look at the last few releases, these aren't meant for us gamers, they are meant for the youtubers/streamers, Detailers patch, Decorators patch, what about a damn assets patch, or even an editor patch, the map editor is seriously lacking. Nope, lets get a decorator patch out, so us gamers can be like the other youtube city painters. Not everyone wants to "paint" a city, some like the challenge of zoning properly and letting the Game proceed with putting in the buildings.

its not only video content creators that are invited, asset creators and modders too.

they have done such a meetup before in cs1 times i has told by one participant.
And what i heard from most of this years participants, they are mostly excited to see each other after only being able to talk online with each other for several years.

I hadn’t even realised it, I haven’t been reading the news it seems. Thanks for the note!

I absolutely agree with u.

I can't say much about the others, but I do fully trust CPP to represent us. He even let us comment and put all of our feedback into a public graph to view from most requested to least (my personal tid-bit was metro crossings, and he added it to the list!). He's got the experience and right ideas, just a matter of them listening and enacting.

I'm interested to see how this all goes. I'm excited that it will be live streamed, would be cool if we can get more of an insider of their HQ/staff like in the "Journey to launch" video.

Not really sure, but I seem to recall CCP mentioning he would fly to Finland yesterday. So it seems to take place this week.
But again, just what I seem to recall.
CPP has a stream on youtube tomorrow at 21:00 CEST (19:00 UTC) that he's calling "Cities Skylines Creator Meetup - Live from Tampere, Finland!"
And the description is: "I'm heading to Finland to meet up with some of the best Cities Skylines creators in the community. Join us as we talk about our initial impressions of Finland and get to know each other IRL - many of us for the first time! And though we won't be building, I'll supply some brews!"

I'm guessing next week we'll get a summary video from CPP and other attendees, similar to what they put out after their meeting with CO earlier in the year...I think it was CPP, Biffa and Overcharged Egg last time? The only question is how much will be subject to an NDA.

I think CPP has quite a good alignment with general players of CS2 not completely, no youtuber has, since their aim is to make money out of it.
Biffa on the other hand showed his true colours when stating the beach dlc was good value. Nothing against the person, just don't think he has the game or players interest in mind, just his video profits.

Regardless, I don't care that much so long as the performance improvements, bugs fixes and promised content is delivered.

CPP is great and he can provide fair and constructive criticism to them, unlike other famous CS youtubers that were mostly advertising the Beach property DLC as "very good" and would be to little use in this scenario.

It was a very cool live stream! I'm disappointed we didn't get to see anyone from Paradox or CO and CPP mentioned they are under NDA. Was awesome to see lots of modders were invited and even better to put faces to names!

It was a fun little live stream. I did see a moderator from the forums in the chat as it was going on but as you said, not onscreen. I marked out a little bit for MrMaison who looks like a laid back cool guy.

I did have some hope that we would get some kind of announcement regarding the game from these meetings. Hopefully the content creators will have a chance to give some details. I imagine they will do it all at once once whatever NDA they signed expires. Although this is a hope of mine, nowhere did I read anything official saying there would be an announcement.

did anything of note happened? Who showed up to the stream

Not really. In fact I don't think that was everyone there. It was more of a hangout and get to know the 20ish people. They discussed their first thoughts on meeting with Colossal Order and being in Tampere.

One guy mentioned their first day was meeting and getting to know everyone. Then the next day was NDA and they would more so be learning about things with a few announcements and discussing the future.

I don't know that many people, but I'll try to list the ones I saw.
