Can anyone who watched it say if it's worth watching? Because the intro doesn't give me confidence. "The time to start looking to the future instead of being upst is now". I've been "looking to the future" since the game was announced. The entire past year I've been "looking to the future". Checking the forums and whatnot for nearly a year now, at least a few times a week. And there's very little future to speak of, as every...single...piece...of content...for this game...is still delayed.
Delayed it shall be.

Only when Paradox gives the go-ahead signal, do when CO comes out swinging. Don't expect anything else otherwise.

It depends what you expect to get from it.

I have watched it, pretty much, right through. As FewCandy stated, she is muzzled (my words) by NDA's and cannot discuss certain things. She said that all of the visitors were given open and honest tours and were able to chat with the coders/developers and see pretty "cool" stuff. Unfortunately, the NDA stopped her from describing what she saw or when she expected it to be available. Plenty of time was spent with Mariina - who she said, came across rather better than she had expected and many (or most) of us give credit for. She claimed that CO/PDX were really listening and valuing input from them, without put down or question. She came away feeling that CO/PDX do care and do want to make the game what most of us always wanted. At the risk of sounding sexist, as a woman, she was able to give a slightly different perspective to most of the people who comment on this game, and that was refreshing. She also made it clear that her views were hers and hers alone and that she wasn't being paid to make the video by CO/PDX or anybody else.

Does what she said change anything for me? Not really : I've heard too many times before about how CO/PDX are listening and care and that this and that is just around the corner. Invariably, it's not the next corner but the one after that or even the one several corners after that one. I simply don't feel like the game is going to evolve quickly enough and in the direction that I would like to see (big city builder, optimised for strategy). The people who went to Finland, it seems to me, are the content creators, the modders and the painters. I don't need painters input - I've been decorating my house for the past six weeks almost full time, I've had enough of paint! - what I want is coders who are going to fix the bugs, make the simulation somewhat aligned to the life that I understand, make it run more efficiently, and to stop my PC from cooking itself trying to run the game.

IMO, no. The part supposed to be interesting for all CS II's owners goes like this:

* Mariina is a wonderful person.
* CO is listening to us and they're commited to deliver a great game.
* What's coming will please everybody (but can't be revealed because of the NDA).
* They're on the right track.

So nothing new. Same old "be patient" we read for 11 months now.

If you’re really frustrated by the state of the game, no.If you’re really frustrated and optimistic, maybe.

since I’ve read or watched most of content from different creators: here’s my tldr or tldw.

1. CO answered all of their questions honestly and bluntly. Some creators were surprised that they shared some of the things they did, especially in response to difficult questions.

2. Creators generally feel optimistic about what they saw or were told — if CO can deliver those things.

3. Timelines are fuzzy but one creator shared the next 18 months will be quite exciting.

4. All stressed patience. With time, the game will get there.

5. Sometimes it’s just one person working on that one thing. Which may explain the speed of improvement, for example.

6. The team is fully staffed.

I ended up watching...it's really a big ball of nothing.

Of course, absolutely no information is actually shared. Just a bunch of "CO is nice" and "Mariina is competent" and "Mariina was nice" and "Mariina said they listen".

Meanwhile, here on the forums with the little people, where is Mariina? Completely absent. Too bad you have to be a youtuber to get any communication from the devs of this game, but all that video did was confirm for me that

-The content creators are completely out of touch with the rest of the players, because they can't identify with how little information and communication we get.
-The devs are completely out of touch with the rest of the players, because they only care to communicate with the content creators.

I don't undrstand what the point of this meeting was. It revealed no information to your average player and the people who got anything out of it aren't allowed to tell us what they got from it, and all they can do is promote CO as a brand. It's like being advertised a burger from McDonalds...but the Ad wasn't made by mcdonalds, but by some D-list celebrity who got to eat the burger, and clearly states they can't tell you the ingredients or show you a picture and you can't buy it, but trust us, it's really yummy.

That seems awfully far away.

Yes it is. I don’t know how accurate that is as there are no official timelines and if there are, it would be under NDA. So that’s one person’s perception. But it sounds right to me.

It’s simple logic, really. Small development team, many complex issues to fix, many new features to implement = time.

Being a fan of this game requires a masterclass in patience

If only, they all had to fund their own travel and hotel accommodation.

Is that stated anywhere ?

Put in that position I seriously wonder how many invitees would actually be willing or even able to pay the cost of that jamboree. When I used to travel all over the world on business, Finland was one of the most expensive places to get to and stay in.

I have watched and in my eyes, it isn't worth watching.

What you would get from it is one person's impression about how CO dealt with her. Due to the imposed NDA no (literally: no!) information could be given about what information the invited group might have or have not got from CO.
Apparently, CO as a company and all their employees have been very friendly and patient. While that is good, it actually doesn't mean anything. It seems however to have created a positive mood at her side.
But then again, "actions speak louder than words". Actions cannot be seen, or they cannot be reported due to said NDA. So, no real information.

If content creators had to fund their own travel then they’re doubling up on losses because there has been a noticeable lack of content related to the trip. Not only is the trip expensive, they aren’t able to capitalize on it with views.

Travel within Europe doesn't have to be as expensive as you might think.

I find it hard to marry the meeting of content creators and modders and the inference from them that there is much to enjoy over the next eighteen months (obviously their comments are bound by NDA), with the official update which suggests that most things are delayed and there is no commitment timewise for anything.
I have been thinking about this and it is really strange that such a meeting should take place at the same moment when they announce that literally everything will be delayed.

Somebody suggested they might have wanted to release something soon and faced some problems in the last minutes.
Given that we don't know anything except these two facts - they have been invited AND there are delays officially announced - that seems to be very likely.
The alternative would be that it was just a measure to boost morale on both sides - giving the most faithful content creators and "influencers" a free trip to Finland as incentive, and at the same time let the staff meet some people who are still with them.

What in fact concerns me is that remark about the next 18 months.
Given the current track record, a lookout that far ahead seems to be very bold. Currently they even cannot give any reliable estimations for a timeframe of three or six months.
And their major efforts in this year - the two attempts with the economy - only have resulted in the introduction of severe bugs.

So, my assumption is that they have presented some grand plans to the "advisory board" or whatever it was called back in April and some of the attendees did buy that.
And luckily, they are now all under NDA and can't say anything. Depending on what they have been told it might even limit their chances to articulate even minor critique.

I guess we will see but the clock certainly is ticking or the whole effort will result in even more backlash.

That's my guess too.

They even cannot give any reliable estimation for a timeframe of 2 or 3 weeks, as with the 2 CCP they were still planning for the 3rd quarter last week.

That is just bad faith nonsense. The major economy patches fixed a great many things and Economy 2.0 in particular was rightly well received. It did introduce bugs, obviously the homeless problem and also with tourism, but it fixed or rebalanced far more than it broke.

I responded to @Lys91 in the latest news post clarifying that this event wasn't planned with a release in mind. I figured it might be relevant/interesting to some of you here who might not have been it in the other thread.

This wasn't a PR event which is why we didn't promote it. This was a chance for us to sit down face to face with content creators, modders, asset creators, and map makers and hear about their experiences with the game, the issues that negatively impact their experience the most, their hopes for the future, and what they feel the wider community finds important.

It was a really positive and constructive event from our point of view, and I hope we get to do more events like this, both with the NDA group and open to everyone, so we can meet you all. But we'll have to see what the future brings. For now, we have a bunch of stuff to dive back into. And of course, once that turns into something concrete we can share publicly, we will.

Why the reported NDA then?
