Man, there really needs a real complete team to work on a single unified Cold war-Modern mod, at least just the very basics, and then a possibility for singular mods to branch out to focus more on certain eras or areas.

It would have to be one massive team!!!
But that is actually an intriguing idea :D

The thing about cold war mods is that they would be somewhat boring. Here's why: HOI/DH are games that are intended to simulate global warfare that happened during WWI and WWII. Everything else is secondary, so they aren't suited for Cold War or Modern day mods.

Think about it: proxy wars, espionage, diplomacy, economy...all the things that played an important role during the Cold War/modern era would be simplified or abstracted by the HOI/DH engine. How do you simulate the capitalist/socialist economy in detail? Or proxy wars and international diplomacy? Or for example the Soviet war in Afghanistan? You'd just swarm the border with 50 divisions, defeat the Afghans, occupy and annex them. And leave 4 garrison division to guard the provinces. Presto - the war is won :)
Playing as any nation would be boring - you'd just sit around, research and upgrade your troops and indulge yourself with occasional events.

It's because of this reason that I believe no cold war/modern mod can ever be fully successful and give the player a good experience. We just have to wait for Paradox to make a Cold War game :)

Or wait for the DH team to implement more advanced late game/cold war related features

Not to talk that we would need a need map...

i dont think a new map would be needed, the current one is well made and could support all important nations around at the moment! I have an idea for what could be done to make a modern mod interesting, but i'm only going to start making one if i get help from an experienced modder and gfx person. (i can make some events but that's about it)

I found out that a Modern Mod requires 2 things:

1.Knowage of current events
2.The Abitly to use such information.

The biggest problem with any mod is that it can take a lot of effort if you don't plan things right. If you want to do MDS then you should try to Make the Map compatible. Thius gets quite hard when you don't know what your doing. I didn't know how to so I hit a brickwall. That's what made me give up.

You also should be able to ask for help and STICK TO THE PLAN!
