I'm having a problem playing the Fatherland scenario. As Germany, i am unable to launch my nukes at the US (I have attached a nuke to my missile, but the "nuke" command doesnt show up, and i have all nuke techs except the last one (commercial nuclear electric power).

Anyone got a fix for this problem?

EDIT: it's not due to weather, i can do all the other missions.

Have you activated the nuclear event? Choose option Activate our nuclear weapons.

Try event 629003.

In the Fatherland book, one of the issues was that both sides were hesitant to use their nuclear weapons. Nuclear authorization is meant to reproduce that.

With regard to the USA, either
1) lost_national = { country = GER value = 10 }
or 2)
AND = {
flag = USA_nukes
war = { country = GER country = USA }
}

This means that you will ONLY get nuclear authorization if you have lost 10% of your territory OR if the USA has authorized nuclear weapons and you're at war with them. Of course you can always call up event 629003 from the console and override this, but this means that the USA will automatically authorize them against you.

Re: updates
Because of 1) the display bug reported and 2) controversy over New Revolters / New Nations material, I expect to eventually release version 0.32.
In the meantime, I'll release 0.31a as soon as I'm through with some of my AOD work. It will just have the graphics fix for the aircraft techs.

As for the "New Nations" issue, here's the story. I had previously used some New Nations material with credit and permission (on the HOI2 but not AOD platform), generally making changes in it. The mod creator, Daboo, decided to turn his mod into profit and has been challenged for doing so by several users, some of whom suggested that his effort might be illegal. I don't know if it is or not, but have decided to backport my New Revolters for AOD when it is finished. It is devoid of New Nations material except for a few items in which I know the source and have explicit permission to use those sections. (only 2 countries). Some tags are changed but it will not affect any of the scenarios and will actually improve SMEP-6 compatibility. (I had never previously implemented Atruejedi's U14 Bohemia-Moravia tag).

Thanks OnFire. The three techs at the bottom can be removed. They are from AOD. They took over some of my techs and renumbered them.
 
They also renamed them. I wouldn't say they "stole" anything. They represent something that got accidentally included with the HOI2 version when I was trying to create the AOD version that has a bigger tech screen.
They did, however, use some things of mine without credit, especially the flags and shields used since 1.03. They are mistakenly credited to Teutonberger.

I hope you reported it, since its illegal to make profit off the work of someone else without permission :/
 
Yeah I'm in the process of talking to them. It's not a non-permission issue it's an issue of inaccurate credits. Someone else used my materials with permission and they got permission to use that person's materials. I still should have been recognized as the original source.
 
I did not change any AI files. In WW2 play, normally one country gets nukes first. If they authorize their use, then any other country at war with them will be authorized to use nukes once they build one by virtue of being at war with someone who has a policy of using nuclear weapons. The default setting is to take advantage of a nuclear monopoly if you have one. If you're the only country with "nuclear waste bomb" and you are at war, you get permission to use it, period. Let's say the USA gets nukes first and decides to authorize their use on Germany. (AI almost always says yes) Then Germany can use them too once they research them. It's only in a COLD WAR without a nuclear monopoly that you get the more restrictive rules.

Now the default screen DOES present a 'nuclear madness' option, which, if selected, gives unrestricted rights to use nukes provided you have built one.

I'm asking cuz usually as SOV I get nukes before USA even research last atomic tech in "Industry", not to mention "Secret waepons"...
 
I believe the vanilla AI is weak concerning atomic weapons.
 
If you're experiencing problems, please upload a savegame before the crash and tell me something more specific about what is causing the problem. In my experience a good many things are real problems that I only become aware of when reported and accompanied by a savegame. Others have turned out to be due to other user modifications.
 
I have combined DAIM with the CW extension and the AI "nuking" skill was significantly enhanced. You should give it a try, but you have to edit the scenario files.
 
Am presently compiling tech images. 80% of the work involved in that is actually finding the images on the web. Paradox already has a tech image maker, so once you have the image, it's trivial. So if you download the package and look at the texts of all the technologies, you can see what the technologies are. Will gratefully accept all pictures posted here, and you can get yourself a spot in the credits.

Say, where can I lay my hands on that image maker?

Or you can just use the techs template that is already in your gfx\interface\tech folder and uncheck all the layers that add dirt and smudge.
