Hi, I've installed HOI2 DD ARMA 1.3b with graphics impr., SKIF and the Cold War tech...And it's awsome...Though the game is really pretty, it's...just...DAIM-less!!!
So please tell me what do i have to do to make DAIM compatible with my game, I've tried but failed several times!
 
should be... you have to change a few minor things with DAIM like moving over the DAIM events to the 1936 user mod instead of the 1936 grand campaign as well as changing some events that have the wrong country ID's not sure if theres anything else though! Makes for an interesting game! My AAR runs DAIM/SMEP/Cold war if you wanna check it out!
That sounds great. How did you get DAIM working? Could you .rar a copy of your mod to me?

I have encounted some problems while trying to install both the CWE and SMEP 6. I don't really understand "optional SMEP installation.doc". Firstly, when I am trying to search smep-surrenderevents.txt it returns no results. Of course I can manually find one smep-surrenderevents.txt file on SMEP folder but shouldn't there be like many of those files (for U01, U73, U76... and so on).

Also, I can't find any SMEP/db/events.txt (section 11 on help file).

I just don't get it. :confused:

Playing as Nat Chi I saw that there are two "Escort Fighter" when I was exchanging blueprints with Korea. I looked at the Aircraft tech tree and I saw the tech after the "Great War Bomber" tech is named as "Escort Fighter". Is that WAD?

I saw it also, but it works correctly, so it does not bother me.

I by no means have any authority in permitting someone to do this, but my guess is that Nomonhan is not going to show up if we just sit around idly, leaving his excellent work unfinished and forgotten... That would be a shame if it happens, much greater than the shame of taking what he has left behind him. There does not seem to be any hope of his return, or even a wink about whether he is alive or not. I think somebody should bring this mod to further progress, until perhaps one day Nomonhan will show up and grant permission, forbid you from going on, join you or take it all back, or perhaps he will never be heard of again; which is my greatest fear.

Please? I don't care if you have limited experience with modding, as long as you can do SOME progress...

Really, that with further progress? The CWE mod for me long ago is the basic instead of vanilla. I would be glad to hear from Nomonhan.I have some customised changes in this mode.I Wish to hear his opinion if I can send out my fix. This Fix have the minor changes: increased air defense for all land units and some acceleration of resirch in some techs(nuclear ,rocet and late str.bombers give 1% bonus of resirch speed). And the some mix of icons from SKIF and CPack and my Icons, my opinion is more friendly to gamer.
And I fixed bag were rocet engine open only in 1953(must be in 1943).

I think any further waiting for permission may as well be fruitless. Absolutely no trace of activity from him has been detected since September last year. It is not out of question that something really awful has happened to him, it could be anything, including death. He vanished without warning, we have no idea if he will show up or not. I think he will understand us, and not take offense if somebody starts working on his mod, should he return after all. Who knows - if it's good work maybe he will be really happy.
 
Unfortunately I have almost no modding experience whatsoever, but I'd love to contribute anything I can. I think, for now, the core gameplay is complete, but there are a lot of things we can/add change:

Events are the big one. I've been playing the Fatherland scenario, as well as Churchill's Nigthmare, and there are almost no unique events for these scenarios. Not to mention a number of problems with the base scenario (In Churchill's Nightmare Britain, at this point a Nazi puppet, still controls Belize and territory in South East Asia. I think you can see the problem.)

The tech tree still needs some work, mostly naming units. I know Nomonhan didn't like making names up, but it's a total gamebreaker to see my newest ships being called "Super Heavy Advanced Air Carrier-class". Fictional names could just have an asterisk next to them - for example, the U.S.'s Advanced Super Heavy Battleship could be Montana-class*. There's also an issue when certain techs become available. For example, Nuclear Transports only become available after researching Nuclear Light Carrier - despite its historical year being 1955, five+ years before Nuclear Light Carrier. Same with Turbojet Carrier Wing - its historical year is 1945, but you need Semi-Modern Air Carrier (1952) to research it!

Just my thoughts.:)

Here my Fix 0.1 for version 0.28 . For Arma 1.3 beta . Of course, attach after
0.28CWE Mod and zpatch_arma13.

This Fix have the minor changes: increased air defense for all land units ( Is my minor way to ballnce it :compared to vanilla were airforces simly kills landunits)and some acceleration of research in some techs(nuclear ,rocet and late str.bombers give 1% bonus of research speed). And the some mix of icons from SKIF and CPack and my Icons, my opinion is more friendly to gamer.Air Transports tech give now some more minor effects.

And I fixed bag were rocet engine open only in 1953(must be in 1943).

Sorry to have been absent. Have gotten a new computer to try HOI3 and was disappointed beyond belief in the product. Don't know if the problems have been fixed or not. Anyway I've found that HOI2 rocks under a new computer, but faced a number of issues, including the increased sophistication of virus writers. One of my findings is that one of my scanners actually detected one of the no-time limit mods (I forget which) modified HOI2.exe to have a virus. Now if you know antivirus technology this could be a false positive. But it was kind of scary. Anyway to make a long story short, I have discovered I was spending too much time with HOI2, and have decided to cut the time way back. I hereby give permission to other developers to continue my work under the following provisions:
1) Change the name. Suggested names are
Cold War 3 (since your product would be a 3rd generation product)
Fatherland 3 (same reasoning)
Cold War Extension 2 (if you just want to use the tech tree alone in your project)
"HOI3 version" of any of the above
2) Design your own introductory graphics screens
3) Change the panel graphics (the ones that show in the scenario list)
4) Include me and all people whom I have credited in your own credits.
5) All other graphics may be used as is without further credits.
The download links will probably continue to work for a long time. However, the mediafire links will probably function better, as sometimes Rapidshare freezes out free users.
If I get the time I will for the sake of completeness complete Cold War and Fatherland for HOI2.Volunteer contributions to that end (especially country data files and the like) are welcome.

Good luck to all of you. I hope you do not spend excessive time but also use the game to improve your understanding of history and perhaps develop new perspectives, as I have.

Exact same thing. That is why i uninstalled it and it is currently still sitting on a shelf.



And glad to see you back. It is okay that you are not spending much time with HOI2 anymore, as what you have already accomplished enhances the game and is extremely wonderful. I must thank you for that.

The notimelimit patch virus warning is definitely a false alarm. I get it too. And yes, don't bother with HOI3, however the new AoD looks very promising. It is a shame that you don't want to resume your excellent work on this mod. But hopefully we've got some volunteers who will actually take the initiative finally.
 
Hi gang--
One small thing--I made a mistake on the virus thing. The detections involved a couple of exe files designed to modify HOI2, not the modified HOI2 files themselves. I think it preferable to crack HOI2 for no time limit manually after determining the points with a hex editor, just to be absolutely virus-safe. And I hope someone pleads with Paradox to release an OFFICIAL no-time limit patch. All they'd have to do is to slide over the end date options and make the last one something like Dec. 30, 9999, and reset the earliest possible date. to something like Jan 1 1000.
 
Yes I checked out Arsenal of Democracy and it looks like a winner. In today's world it's nice to have no time limit and screen resolution supported in game so we don't have to rely on hacks. Will probably make some minor changes and submit a "final" for HOI2, obviously incomplete but nonetheless the end of the road, when I get time, maybe in a month or two. It looks like this new game has many of my ideas implemented, and much more. If I get into modding at all, it will be as a member of a large team--no more "one man show!"

If AoD is what it seems to be I hope the modders migrate over.
