Colonial Border Problem

Good Evening everyone,

im doing atm a achievment run with Castille and its going pretty well.
Part of the Achievments i wanted to make was Forever Golden, where you have to complete the spanish mission tree to the last one. Now to the problem:

At the end of the tree there's a misson called "Colonize California", where you have to create a Colonial Nation in California, including San Francisco with an Holy Order set in that State. Now as you can see on the screenshot the last Province i need in that state (San Diego) is owned by my colonial Nation of New Spain, so i cannot create an Order within the State of Alta California to finish the mission.

My question now is, is there any other way to transfer San Diego to California or is it my only option to release New Spain and conqer them again?

The most reliable option is to release New Spain and conquer the needed province. You can do that near the end of your run and just conquer the one province from them. IIRC you can declare on them without truce breaking if you declare the war on the day that you release them.

Another option is to hope for the "Intercolonial Disputes" event (It is in the file events/pretty_colonial_borders.txt). That event gives you the option to reassign provinces to the correct colonial nation. But it has a MTTH of 40 years and it can't fire while you are at war. So it is pretty rare.
