Colonizing lakes?

The ottoman empire has a trading post on a lake. When I click on the lake I see the list for other lakes around the world and a little icon for the ottoman outpost. Is this a bug or just some secret weapon I dont know about?

All of them.

Lake Chad can be clicked on to build a claim building, and then you can use the scroll-list to select the other lakes in the lake 'colony', and build claim buildings in all of them. :rofl:

No all the lakes in the game are part of a single state for the lakes but lake chad is considered a province not a lake thus you cant build a coaling station on surrounding provinces and you can send men to walk upon the lake. This is also why the lake has off white colour and not a blue colour.

So youi cant claim it because you cant place a colony on all the other lakes in the game which are part of the same state as lake chad.

I thought someone else reported that you could in fact build claim buildings on the other lakes....

Yes, after it has a claim you can click on it and use the list of provines to jump to the other lakes and claim them.

But can you claim the "colony" or not? I hadn't noticed that you could scroll the list and build other claims. If you claim all the lakes, can you turn all the lakes in the world into your colony?

I noticed that there is a blank spot in the middle of the list. Perhaps this indicates that there is a "phantom" lake that is not on the map. If this is the case, then I guess it would be impossible to claim the colony.
