Oh my the Ultimate edition cost like 90 euros and 50 euros for just the base game..
I agree about the Unlimited Edition, specially for me that I am not a big fun of radio and playing with music and I won't mind about the Radios included. I can also add that maybe they want to take some advantage of the lack of content on the workshop on the beginning, despite the content of San Francisco, Piers, Bridges, .... will be launched later on 2023 and 2024.

But what I don't understand, and I've seen many people complaining is about the price of the base game alone. What would be the price for a new game on launch date? 50€ looks right to me. Of course I would like to pay less, but I am realistic and companies make products to sell and make money. CS1 is 8 years old, this means that if you payed 50€ you are like spending 6,5€/year on playing it. Is this that much?

Sadly, I guess there won’t be building animation with worksite or hoist… I don’t like to see buildings just pop without any animation.
It’s always a pleasure to see skyscrapers or airports being built like in SimCity.

It’s strange because in their first trailer, they put so many hoist..

BTW I like that CS:2 has clearly an American look (first game default style was really sitting on a fence and was mish-mash of both American and European buildings). However IMO the vehicle selection as it is really clashes with American style cities

I mean come on - even European cities don't have that many Smarts (in fact, Europe is now copycating USA and large vehicles like SUVs are becoming a plague, while smaller vehicles are less and less popular because the way emission norms are calculated unfortunately doesn't favor them), so these Smarts should definitely have much much lower spawn rate, then on these screenshots, especially if this is supposed to be USA.

Is it a flaw or is it just necessary scaling?

The game runs much quicker than real time so how would you represent 100 people going in and out of that every building every day or 50,000 leaving the stadium at the end of a game?

I'm OK with it so long as they get the balance right with workplaces - it was way off in CS1.
For me the population number is the fundamental measurement in any city builder. I used realistic population mod to correct the issue in cs1. It seemed to adjust resident and worker numbers for buildings well.
And with a game day being so fast, I’m not sure what is trying to be achieved with the representation of these sims anyway. I’m not sure what the correct representation even is. There needs to be a rush hour. Maybe that could be its own thread.
Just give me some realistic numbers so my city doesn’t feel silly. There will no doubt be a mod to fix it again.
I don’t want to be too down on cs2 as we don’t have all the details and I’m sure the devs have been working hard, but it’s looking like a bit of an overpriced refresh at this stage.

There are some nice graphical and QoL improvements but so far it seems that (other than building upgrades and seasons) it looks like CS1 with mods. This doesn't mean it will be a bad game, but I definitely expected some revolution like completely new zoning system - buildings are unfortunately still coffined to squares. This is a flaw that I'm afraid may stay forever (unless CO will decide to revamp the system at one point but this will almost certainly break earlier savegames and many people will be furious).
I will definitely try CS2 in Gamepass but the game haven't got me sold so far :|
I had exactly the same feeling tbh.

I fear that actual european and asian looking cities with wall-to-wall buildings on curved roads will not be possible due to this constraint — and it's probably something that's way too complex to be be patched in at a later date. The thought of having to wait until CS3.... well it's kind of a downer honestly.

There where still lot's of improvements and things to look forward to, don't get me wrong, but this curvy wall-to-wall building was really something I've been waiting for since the original Cities Skylines released. And games like Manor Lords or Sim City 2013 already had non-grid zoning, which makes this even more frustrating in a way.

I am also still slightly skeptical about the upgradable buildings. I really loved this feature in SC5, but in SimCity the upgrades where ploppable at custom locations around the main building and the upgrades in CS2 seem to be fixed in place (with a pre-defined location?). Maybe it only looked like that to me in the trailers though.

But let's see how the rest of the game is. I am still a bit excited and looking forward to the weekly dev diaries. :)

I think it might be changed later, but that will almost certainly ruin previous savegames and I can imagine the outcry (or maybe the community will accept that, because the option to have nonorthogonal buildings was probably one of the most requested feature, anyway - CO should seriously consider changing it later on, even if this will destroy backwards compatibility)

Yeah, having seen those specs and Paradox's curt "recommended is what you need to get good performance"..I may have to stick to CSL1 for a while.

Because I certainly cannot justify ditching a gaming laptop that's barely a year old and that can run at good performance nearly every game still being made save only the most out there graphically ambitious (ie, Starfield) for one game, even if that game is Cities Skylines. Even were I to, by Canadian prices getting a 2080ti or better with that 11 gb ram is a pretty limited selection of gpu, and would likely set me back by four digits alone. Even CSL2 is not worth that amount of money,

Shame, it seemed to have lovely ideas. But the graphic inflation approach of video game design is not for me, so until/unless I get confirmation that the performances on lower specs (but more recent) gpus are still quite reasonable, I may have to pass.

At this time Cities: Skylines II is confirmed for Windows PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.
Yes, I saw that and that's why I was asking if Linux support was coming (Mac support for those users too), so I'm not sure why you repeated what was already stated since that doesn't answer my question. I will be really disappointed if I can not play the new version of this game, and since I only play a few games I am not going out of my way to buy a Windows machine or gaming console just for this game, I'd rather save my money and support game developers who also provide native Linux support.

Same here. Such a dissapointing trend by Paradox abandoning the Linux support in all of their recently announced games...
While I do understand that in the end of the day this is a business decision, their unwavering support of everything Linux was what made them...well, Paradox. At least for me.
And while I could tolerate the lack of Linux support for non-core titles and IPs developed by their other studios, Skylines is actually a core PDX title...man, this hits me right in the feels :(

I really hope that Linux support will be added so that I can buy this game. It's made in Unity which offers first-class Linux support.

I have some mixed feelings from what I saw... on one hand there are pretty neat improvements like upgradable buildings and lane based networks, on the other hand, from the roadmap, it looks like the overall map sizes stay the same but with more smaller city tiles but which allow you to build close to the borders by default.
Yes, the city they have showcased seems rather small. I was hoping for a bit bigger scale of things.

Also, the mass transit options seem limited. Just buses, trains, trams and apparently ferries metros and taxis? And it seems that trams are just buses on rails again and not light rails.

First time I watched the trailer, the city seemed quite realistic and looked great. But after a closer look I’m left kind of cold. Let’s see what’s in the dev diaries.

This answer is quiet frankly not acceptable.
Us Linux users deserve to be treated with a little more respect and be given a definitive answer.

Are you planning on supporting Linux?, YES or NO.
If NO, Then will you officially support a Proton Version, Again YES or NO.
If any answer above is Yes, then I will happily pre order ultimate version today.

I look forward to a response.

I can't speak for them, but not saying yes or no, it would seem that it is "no" at release, maybe "yes" in future, but not willing to commit to a "yes".

Sadly that is just one possible interpretation. Likely true, but there are so many people left confused right now CO should come forward and be honest about their intentions. They must be aware this affects a lot of players even if it would be just a percentage of all the sales.

If it were me, I'd say "NO" then. Could still change to a yes in the future. If you said there was a one in a trillion chance that it would be a yes in the future, the internet would jump down their throat if it was a no.

The thing is CO was supporting alternative platforms with all their games. It was one of the things they were different about. It meant they are compassionate and aware some people might not have access to Windows for various reasons. It did say something about their culture and about them listening to people's wishes. Seeing this radical change quite frankly saddens me and also makes me wonder why, what has happened? Hence why those affected at least want to hear something more informative and on topic from the devs.

There seems to be no mentions or hints anywhere of any bicycle infrastructure or anything in relation to decorating like parks or props. This is really dissapointing but fingers crossed this is simply stuff that has not been revealed yet.
