StephenT has created the first AAR for the Great War Mod here:
http://www.europa-universalis.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=109123

I ask for StephenT and those others who wish to keep his particular thread clean for ease of reading to post their comments in this thread.

BTW great start on your AAR StephenT.

Should we ask our benevolent Mod SykoNurse to sticky it?

The problem with the Entente and Britain ganging up on Sanusia isn't an isolated incident. When I tested the Egyptian and Indian rebellions, involving those nations going to war with Britain, France and Russia retaliate likewise, even if Britain is only neutral.

I still notice the odd mistake - the Austrian foreign office sending the Serbs 'though' conditions, for example, not to mention the lack of descriptions for the July Crisis events.

By the way Stephen, any chance of us having a go at the most recent test version? :) I apologise for continuing to badger you on this issue, but I want to see how the thingy is developing.

Thanks SykoNurse.

Sweet. I will follow it very cloesly. I love how it seems armies with superior numbers have trouble defeating a smaller entrenched force and the battles take months. (at least in the Spanish civil war)

you can copy aar's:confused:

My guess is he can copy a post/thread much similiar to how they can move one. Like the announcement thread, be kind of an annoyance if they had to retype that same post over and over.

Nice AAR, StephenT, looking forward to a release.

OK, second phase is ready for posting.

Sykonurse - I posted the thread here rather than in the AAR forum mostly because the mod isn't yet ready or generally available, and I thought it might be cruel to taunt everybody over there :D But I've no great objection to you copying it.

Allenby - the event descriptions do appear in the July Crisis events, if you're the triggering country. What my screenshot shows is just the "another country had an event" notifications, which don't show any details.

As for your other question...

Your AAR is going good Stephen. If you can could you post a screenshot of a mobilization event? On a side note I like the layout of the progress page.

Nice site Stephen! :)

Would I be right in saying that the Austrians managed to lose those territories by not garrisoning them, thus allowing the Serbians to walk straight in?

The Austrians did have garrisons in most provinces, but only small ones - they had immense stacks of units along the Russian border, and only one or two units in each area facing Serbia.

What seemed to happen both in the Austria-Serbia war and the Mexican Civil War is that one side would throw nearly its entire army into attacking one province. Two months later, they'd be defeated, and their army either attrited to nothing or at zero org. At that point, their border would be wide open and the enemy could move into several almost undefended provinces.

One point to note is tech levels. Since we haven't yet assigned techs properly to each country, all armies are on an equal footing. In reality, I think the Imperial and Royal Army should have had an edge over the Serbian forces, making them more likely to win their battles.

Thanks Stephen, looks good. I wonder how the Ottoman's did on their test :D .

The garrisoning and parity of forces is definetly an AI issue. Tech will also help.

When I played that "leaked" early beta the AI played much better than in the current AAR. Playing almost perfect with the war in Europe going very similar to real war. (with hands off) And that was some months ago. I'm sure its just a fluke.

This looks interesting. I think we may need to shore up some of the AIs, although as I mentioned in another thread, that isn't something I can help with.
