Hi, I decided to install Europa Universalis II a while ago but when I inserted the CD and tried to install it I got an error message "this program has known compatibility problems,..." and I simply can't get the installer to work. Tried running as admin, applying service pack 2 XP etc.
Nothing worked
I have a Windows 7 Home Premium btw.

Any help?

We've had that message reported before, and we have no idea what they are talking about. It works fine on Vista or Win7 from all reports. So you can ignore that message. On Win7 or Vista:

1/ install outside the system path, so something like c:\games\eu2 or whatever
2/ rename the eu2/avi directory to anything else
3/ check for video driver updates

What goes wrong with the installer, exactly?

Well, I get that notification and then press "execute program", then it loads the small initialising screen, where it loads about halfway and after a while I get the following error:

"An installation support file 'C:\Users\Usernae\Appdata\local\Temp\{CA5.....\setup.inx' could not be installed"

and I've tried installing it on my dad's laptop (Vista) and it works.

Did you do as I suggested and install outside the system path? Also try running as the Admin user when you install.
