When i close EU, the computer locks up for about 20 seconds and then go back to normal. This happens and have happened EVERY SINGLE TIME i close this wonderfully addicting game. It's not really a problem since nothing bad happens, it's just a bit strange that it happens every time, for the same amount of time, with no negative effects.

Haven't got a clue why this happens, but I'm just curious if someone else has this little "problem".

Yep - mine does it also - except for longer than 20 seconds...

What's wierd is that it won't lock up immediately upon exiting, but once I exit, if I access another program or try to shut down the computer it locks up for anywhere from 30 seconds to infinity (have to reboot then)....

my system is a little outdated (amd 400, 192 RAM, 2 years old) but it's only this game that does it -

not griping, just commenting, I'm still playin it WAAAAYYY too much - especially since I found MP...

Yep This is a common problem. As you say nothing bad happens. I have got used to it and just go and make a coffee whilst it settles itself. It is strange as there is no hard drive activity until just before the "unfreeze".

Whitehojo: When you exit go make a coffee. Let a few minutes pass after the cursor "unfreezes" (it will) and rebooting should then not be needed.

I use a sound event for when a progam closes and this always plays just before the computer is handed back to me. There is obviously a program running somewhere but I have been unable to find it as any attempt causes a permanent (until reboot) freeze.

Oh well - a small price to pay for such a great game.......

As we all know that Paradox is an alien-controlled company (guys, do you think that BiB is really a human?), i wouldn't be so sure that nothing bad happens...
:D

I don't know if the computer freezes for exactly 20 seconds every time(just an estimate, might be a minute), but I never have to reboot. But as you said WhiteHojo it never freezes directly after EU closes. I just wait for a while and let the computer get back to her good old self again.
And I think that these lock-ups lasted longer before i updated to 1.09.

But really, this is no big deal at all.

Well, thats a very refreshing attitude. :)

People have started wars on here over some provinces names being spelt wrong. Its nice to know some people just enjoy playing the game.......
