Stukov put as much effort as he could muster into his false smile. The news for the U.S. was not good. People were calling out to "defend Democracy". Although Germany had tried as best it could to retain friendly relations with them, it was becoming exceedingly difficult now to deal with the Americans.

"Surely there is some way we can work out our differences peacefully, Mr. President," said Stukov in fluent English.

"I'm sorry, Emperor, but the pressure from my people is becoming too great to handle. I don't know if war can be averted," said the grim looking American.

"But your country is dedicated to the peace and prosperity of all mankind. We are fighting this war with the Soviets for our very lives! For our homes! Our families! Our freedoms! How can you support them as you are?"

"As I said before, the citizens of the U.S. are voiceing more and more in favor of war. I'm afraid it may be unavoidable...." Roosevelt trailed off.

Grim faced, Stukov stood up, put on his hat and began to walk out of the room, "Then you shall pay with every inch of ground you take with a gallon of your men's blood."

Ever since the Soviet Union's entry into the war, German chances of victory had improbed. France and Britain had been expelled from North Africa and the Russians had all but been pushed from Poland and Finland. Early German blitzs encircled numerous Soviet armies, smashing any hopes for a quick victory. Leningrad, Murmanks, Sevastopol, and Oddesa had fallen, and the Russians had taken astounding losses. Germany, intent on regaining the initiative after the disastorous South African campaign, decided to launch a trans-Atlantic invasion of Canada to boost moral and install a Axis-friendly puppet regime along the U.S. border.

However, the U.S. was preparing for the inevitable war with Germany. Huge arms shipments were being sent to Russia and India and mobs of people took to the streets protesting U.S. neutrality. Seeing this, Emperor Stukov asked for President Franklin Roosevelt to a meeting in the neutral country of Ireland to see if relations could be salvaged. After a 4 hour conference, Stukov left, followed shortly by Roosevelt. Roosevelt's plane never landed at Washington D.C. and the Navy called out an intensive search and rescue operation to find the plane, and hopefully the President. After a 36 hour search, a portion of the starboard wing was found with burn marks along the edge. The rest of the plane was believed to have sunk into the ocean and no survivors were ever found.

WAR!!!!!!!

Early yesterday, Congress announced that it's decision to declare war on Nazi Germany and the Axis powers. many members were quoted saying, "We do this to save democracy!" Congress also announced the beginging of a national draft to all men from ages 18 to 35. With the might of the U.S. armies and economy behind the Allied forces, there is no doubt that Nazi tyranny that has opressed the peoples of Europe will surely be defeated through the hard work and sacrifice of all our citizens and fighting men.

General Guderian stood proudly atop his Panzer as he watched his troops storm the heart of the godless Communism, the Kremlin. Sporadic gunfire still could be heard across the city, but the major resistance had been crushed, and only after a 5 hour battle.

"Ha! You'd think the Reds would be smarter than to defend their capital with 1 division against 12 of ours!" laughed the general.

"They're obviously not to bright, they declared war on us after all," said General Manstein.

Within minutes, the Kremlin had been cleared out and German troops were celebrating throughout the building, smashing portraits of Stalin, raiding liquor cabinets, abusing the captured staff. There was much to celebrate. Field Marshall Kluge had captured Stalingrad only a week earlier, an entire Soviet army had been routed at Rostov, Field Marshalls Runstedt and Bock were chasing the remains of the Red Army past the Urals, and General Hoth, despite all odds, had held off three attacks from combined U.S. and Canadian forces in New Brunswick. Things were definetly looking up for the Third Reich.

Meanwhile....

In a prison in the city of Landsberg Germany, Emperor Stukov walked down the row of cells, ignoring the cries of the criminals imprisoned. In his hand he held an American newspaper. As he reached the cell he'd been looking for, he rapped on the cell bars with his cane.

"What is it?" came a groggy English response from inside the cell.

"Oh, did I catch you at a bad time? I'm sorry if I woke you," said Stukov back in English, dripping in sarcasm.

"You'll never get away with this! It'd be best if you let me out of here this instant!"

"Actually, that's why I came here. Some of our agents in the States sent back this newspaper, it looks like they went to war even without you around!" tossing the newspaper inside, Stukov turned around and walked away, laughing maniacly!

"WE WILL STOP YOU!" yelled the prisoner.

Without even pausing, Stukov yelled back, "We'll see, Mr. President !!!"

Bombs rained down all across the city of New York. Far removed beneath the war raging above, scientist hurredly went about there work. Along the walls were giant computers, electronic equipment humming away. In the center of the room was a small chair with wires and electrical workings riddled across it.

One man sat on this chair, a pen and clipboard in hand.

"The calculations are correct. We must hurry now and proceed with the operation," he said, marking down some final notes on the paper.

"But sir, we should double check to make sure......" protested the scientist next to him.

Several artillery shells landed above, the lights flickered and plaster fell from the ceiling. The sound of gunfire were also getting closer.

"Dammit! We have no time left! Commence shift process immediately!"

The scientists cleared the area around the man sitting on the chair. Within moments, a loud noise filled the air. Suddenly, a blue, shimmering rift enveloped the man, and he was gone.

Everything was changed....

January 1st, 1939

It was quiet in Berlin that night, no one was on the streets. Snow lighty fell, adding a beutiful touch to the cold winter night. Hitler stood looking out a window in the Chancellory building, contemplating which direction he would be taking Germany in the coming years. Hitler rubbed his eyes, exhausted by the new-found authority he had obtained. His train of thought was disrupted as the office was bathed in a blue glow. Shocked, Hitler turned to see a shrouded figure standing in the middle of his office. The man raised what appeared to be a gun. Before he could fire, another rift appeared next to the man. Someone else appeared, now there were 3 people in the office. Without wasting a moment, the newly arrived person grabbed the man and through him back inside the newly created rift. Shocked by the sudden appearance, the man dropped his gun and uttered a yell, but was cut off as he was flung into the rift once again. The remaining person paused, looked at Hitler, nodded, and suddenly vanished along with the rift in a shimmering blue light.

Completely stunned by the events that had just taken place, Hitler stood frozen in place. After a few moments of deep thought, he slowly walked to where the man had dropped the gun, and picked it up. As he did, an icy chill fell over him and a faint voice whispered to him, "Everything is now in place."

Only seconds after he left, the man returned, with company. The first was thrown to the ground. He quickly snapped up, but was met by a dozen gun barrels staring down at him.

"Stukov! I should have known!" yelled one of the scientists.

The man who had been sitting now spoke up, "We have caused enough problems. Destroy this equipment and tell no one of what had happened here."

The man turned away from the trembeling Stukov and paused for a moment. The sound of gunfire above him had stopped. At least there is peace here now. thought the man. The worlds fate was now out of his hands...
