I would LOVE to play as Genghis Khan (and subsequent rulers) and conquer all of Asia, Africa and Europe. Imagine leading your hordes against puny Eastern and Western civilizations, taking their manpower, technology and resources as you bring great nations to its knees one by one.

You know you want to.

Perhaps he's disapointed that he's restricted in his conquest spree to half of Asia, all of Europe and bits of Africa? :p

Be a pretty pointless game. If the real Genghis Khan managed to conquer big chunks of civilised Asia, plus Eastern & Central Europe in his lifetime, whatever would the player do. At least it wouldn't last long.

If a game was pointless for the reason you provided, the strategic history simulators that you play would be pointless as well. Personally I'd like to simulate a game to finish what Khan started. Conquer all of known worlds and perhaps Americas as well. I mean, the greatest conqueror in all of history, I'm surprised there aren't any games that's dedicated to such a theme.

Bring all the world under the great yurt?

I would rather play as Khilji of Delhi and be one of the historical few who not only defeated the Mongol Invasions, but gave them a run for their money.

But isn't this already possible with CK2?

I think you are talking about Croatia. Mongols suffered a rare defeat but nothing like the ones they dished out. They still burned and pillaged Coratia. Mamluks gave Mongols a hard time later and Japanese defeated Mongols.

Conquest of Rus' lands:
- Mongol losses: About 7,000.
- Rus' losses: About 500,000, or 6~7% of entire population.

Invasion of Poland:
- Defeated alliance of Poland and various allies including Silesia.
- Mongol casualties, minimal.
- "Trouble" you mentioned may have been a surprise attack made by left over Cracovian knights, that was shortly defeated while they were too distracted with loot.

Invasion of Hungary
- Crushed Hungarian/TO/Knights Templar army, killed HALF of Hungarian population.

Western Europe was on the verge of being conquered but then Genghis Khan died so all the army retreated.

Mongols did have the advantage in technology at the time. They had gunpowder with bombs hurled via catapults during sieges. Mongols are often credited for introducing gunpowder into Europe.
