More quick observations:

R1 (RB) button now used to access snapping options when placing road/path/rail etc, triangle (Y) still used for changing between straight/freeform etc
L1 (LB) used to slow the cursor movement when placing anything, or zoning
Pollution colour of land and water can be changed in options (radioactive green, hell yeah)
Depth of field can be enabled in options, along with strength of effect
Film grain can be enabled in options, again with strength of effect
Options menu has an "auto bulldozing" section, not tried this yet
Road distance option is in metres, off by default
Free camera has an option menu (square/x button) to change time of day, rain/fog density, FOV
Max zoom seems to have increased, will help when placing tiny props like benches
Collision area on some props seems to have been reduced on some props (can place hedges from Parks DLC closer to each other so rows are easier)
The bin lorries have readable text on the back (Keep our city clean)
Snapping on nodes seems to be less aggressive, its now a bit easier to place parallel roads for example, ending at the same snap line as one next to it now needs less fiddling with the camera

Is there a bug on the Xbox Series version where any DLC's bought in the season passes are not showing as purchased? Or do the season passes not count and need to purchase each dlc again for the Remastered version?

We are checking this now. It's possible that bundles are indeed causing a bit of a headache for the ownership checks and the Cities team have reached out to MS to get some help. I'd advise against buying DLC you already own as you are supposed to get the remastered edition for free!

Is the Remastered version free?
  • Yes, if you already own the Base Game or any DLCs, the Remastered version of those products will be available to you without any additional cost. Please note that this only applies to digital purchases, scroll down for more information.
Will I be able to play with all my DLCs?
  • Currently, all DLCs until the 2023 release of "Airports" are Remastered. We are currently working on the remastered versions of the remaining DLCs (Plazas & Promenades, Financial Districts and all Content Creator Packs and Radio Stations released fall 2023) They will be available soon!
Is cross saves between the versions possible?
  • No, unfortunately not. The saves will only be available on the version you used when saving your City.
Will I be able to unlock all 25 tiles?
  • Yes!
Is the Remastered only available on PS5 and Xbox X|S
  • Yes
Will PS4 and Xbox One also get remastered?
  • No, unfortunately, the Remastered versions will only be available on PS5 and Xbox X|S. One of the main features we wanted to add was 25 tiles to build onto and sadly the older hardware of the PS4 and Xbox One would not be able to handle the simulation scale.
When will I get access to the new features?
  • Release of Cities: Skylines remastered is February 15th!
Can I still play my old Cities: Skylines Saves?
  • Yes, you can still play the PS4 and Xbox One versions of Cities: Skylines, there you have access to your old saves.
If I buy any of the New DLCs that are not remastered yet, will I get them later?
  • Yes, any content purchased for either version will give you a free copy of the Remastered version once that piece of content becomes available.
Will remastered be available for PC?
  • This is a Console-only update. The PC version of the game already has similar features that have not been accessible to the Console community - until now!
Will I have access to the remastered version automatically?
  • You need to download the remastered version of the base game and your DLCs manually, but they will be available without any additional cost automatically.
Why can't we have cross-saves?
  • The architecture of Cities: Skylines Remastered is different from its predecessor, to be able to accommodate Higher graphic quality, increased buildable tiles and overall better performance. Because of the technical limitations of old-gen consoles, we could not apply the same changes to that version, meaning it's two different code bases for the games - hence cross saves are not possible.
Can I upgrade my current Cities to the Remastered version?
  • See the answer above regarding save games and cross saves.
I can't access Remastered in Japan!
  • The release of Remastered on PS5 in the Japanese store is slightly delayed, it will be available soon!

I have a physical copy of Cities: Skylines, am I eligible for a free upgrade to Remastered?
  • Currently, only digital purchases are eligible for a free upgrade to Remastered.

I have a PS Plus version of Cities: Skylines. Why can't I access Remastered for free?
  • If you own a PS Plus version of Cities: Skylines that you claimed from the 2020 giveaway of the game on PS Plus, you will not be able to access Remastered for free. You will have to buy the game to own it & get a free upgrade for Remastered.
Why not also for ps+ owners? thats unfair?

You could patch 25 tiles into the PC version. So everyone does not need to download the mod.

Or add a toggle if you are afraid of performance for people with really old hardware.

I hope dlc can be fixed soon.

I got achievements again and all unlocks are gone. Would have been nice to sync them via pdx account or something. :(

If you don't unlock all tiles at once (cheat) you can still buy all of them after growing your city, right?

It's shameful really, you said seven days ago that we could update any PS4 version, but now, on the same day of release, you announced that only the digital versions can be upgraded because it's practically a new game, totally apart, and can not be upgraded at all if you own a physical copy, like me. I have to buy it again. A game that I already paid, along with all the DLCs that have been realeasing all these years ago. This should have been clarified since the very announcement, not now. But no, let's gonna say that any PS4 version can be updated. This sucks.

Can I just add my name to the list of disgruntled PS5 owners. I get that it’s perhaps not sensible to give it away free to PS+ customers, but you’re charging £32 or something today to upgrade. Meanwhile, it’s a free upgrade if you paid £6.99 for the base game in January, when it was on sale. I suspect most upset people here will be those who have spent many multiples of that on DLC, but you’re now trying to rinse them for £25 more than less long-standing players who picked it up a month ago. I suspect many (including me) don’t mind paying, but make the price fair for goodness sake. Perhaps bundle it with Airports or some of the more recent DLC (with some price uplift of course) to reduce the pain, so they feel like they’re getting something out of their dedication to the game. Otherwise you’re just engaging in exploitation. The lack of acknowledgement of this being an issue from the company is shocking.

So some problems with the next gen update which I also posted in the bug forum part

The following packs get marked as not owned even if you already bought them

University City Content Creator Pack
Sunset Harbor
Campus
Industries
Content Creator Pack Modern City Center
Content Creator Pack Modern Japan

Also me and many many others would now really appreciate an unlock all unique buildings option so we don't have to unlock them all over again, we asked this before for many years but now it is needed more then ever.
