I had the same issue when Tropico 6 was remastered. I had the disk and didn’t get the free next gen upgrade on Xbox. You win some and you lose some.

seriously, chill bro. Non of us are entitled to a remastered version. The team tried to do something nice and unfortunately you made a bad investment on a disk version you probably got on sale or even used. We’ve all made bad investments, move on and grow up.
Why should I? I bought the game brand new on release, I'm annoyed cause I just got a series X hoping to get the remastered and now they excluded half the players. It's fine just won't play or buy it. They said it was available to all console owners who own the base game, so they chodse misleading wording and rightfully all disc owners are annoyed about it. If you want to accept being mislead be my guest.

"There's another issue, which is that players could just lend their DVD copy of Cities to a friend > have them install it > claim the remastered version effectively giving them a game for free despite never owning it."

It's not exactly like you wrote. You can lend a copy to someone, that person can download free upgrade but still needs physical disk to play the game.

My understanding now is that it is not technically possible. That said I'm not in the dev or marketing loop for this game, it's just what I've heard internally.

So someone will lend their friend an Xbox One disc, to install and play on their Xbox One, then have to also own a Series X or S at the same time or go out and buy one all to just save some money on a game, surely you can recognise who are genuine players and so what if a a tiny amount of people get a free copy chances are they will spend money on DLC if they like the game, so in order to prevent 0.1% of people getting a free game, you block 100% of disc owners instead and expect them to pay another £40 to get a map editor and 25 tiles.

To our Console players that have been experiencing issues with downloading Remastered, we are now able to confirm that this issue should be resolved. If you still see a price tag on the DLC's you already own, you simply have to click on it to see an "install" option instead.

About people sharing discs is not the case as you need to put a physical disc in the console for it to work..
So the moment you sell your disc its not playable anymore.
And technically its very possible..
Every other game with a free upgrade to current gen (like The Witcher 3, Cyberpunk, Horizon Forbidden West, God of War Ragnarok, GT7, Assassins Creed Valhalla ..To name a few) have this option..
Its baffling that Paradox refuses this and don't even give a proper explanation as to why..
Even if people actually bought the game and paid a lot of money for it.
Again: this is extremely consumer unfriendly and doesn't put Paradox in a good light.

I am once again asking:

1. Why not add the asset editor? At least just allow us to create and save interchanges. There is only 1 included with the game. The most popular PC mods are all interchanges.

2. Why make the 25 tiles a cheat? It forces us to choose between big cities or achievements.

Does any of devs actually play the console version?

Me too. As you've written it is technically possible and done by others. I also don't understand why a not next gen save can not be used on the next gen console.
But from what I read here, even if the dics version would be upgradable it would seems to be wise to wait until the first wave of bugfix are done...

It's not the Plazas and Promenades expansion that added them, but a free update that came out in November. Basically the Remasterd version right now is the version of Cities in early 2022.

Got almost all the DLCs available to update onto the remaster (brilliant) buttt I’ve been using the map editor, spent a day creating a new map and it now says it’s incomplete and I can’t use it for the game? Any ideas, thanks in advance

Just watched interview on cities skylines YouTube page and developer said the plazas promenades and financial districts and skyscrapers will be available in the next couple of months along with new things coming. Can’t wait to see what’s next for remastered version.

Except that Wreckfest did it, Cyberpunk 2077 did it, etcetera. Not a very good argument....

Could you please give us, owners of a physical copy, an official statement if and when we get a free upgrade to PS5/XSX?
It's already been said several times above that Disc owners will not be getting the free upgrade. With Sony I understand the reason for it and I reckon that's why Xbox owners won't be getting it either, even though Microsoft has smart delivery which would just install the series x version if you're on that machine plus it still requires the disc in the console so that negates the story of people lending discs and downloading the remaster for free because you still need the disc to play it.

Overall it's been handled poorly and early adopters with disc versions are left having to buy it again

As has been mentioned several times that doesn't make sense. All these other games have done ps5 upgrades no problem but somehow CS Remastered is different. Ive played The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk PS5 Upgrades using ps4 disc no problem at all.

Would prefer Paradox to be honest and say its a money making scheme then spout BS

And we have several examples that it is possible for Playstation to have a free next gen upgrade even with a disc version.

As an owner of the dics version I would also very like to know the reason why this hould not be possible, even though others can do that.

team, I know you have a lot of work, but I would like you to pay attention to the slowness of the initial loading of the game, it is very slow! On xbox

Hi team. Thank you for sorting out the DLC. I am on series X, a couple of things, if they have not already been raised -

1 - The auto HDR option is not available on remastered, as it is on the xbox one version, so is HDR to be added to the remastered game?

2 - A screen sizing option would be great. The display needs reducing slightly on my TV

3 - One of your DLC is spelled incorrectly - Pearls From The East is listed as Pears From The East in the MS Store

Thanks very much. Looking forward to the rest of the DLC arriving, and all future developments.
