Description​

I'm getting desperate... I've loaded the game in different years (old save games), but at some point this bug keeps popping up.

What can I do? I would really like to continue playing this save game.

I have gotten the same 2 errors in my game now too. Keeps crashing at the start of the month on the 2nd to the 3rd day

Edit:
Qing gets the event Heavenly Kingdom. First Option just crashes.

To solve this for now i commented out "create_taiping_characters=yes" in the heavenly_kingdom_events.txt file line: 522

Can confirm commenting out create_taiping_characters as Berecles suggested in my game files worked around the crash.

Hello and thank you for the report!

The attached saves uses 43 mods - I can't just hand this to our coders.
Please attach a different repro save that is not using mods.
 
Hi, thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, I don't think it's possible for me to easily generate a save in which the problem occurs (within a reasonable amount of time). Because the event 'Heavenly Kingdom' must appear with the correct decision from the AI.

But the solution has already been presented in the thread. I am a developer myself. I think that the devs will know what the problem is based on the logs and the solution.
 
Sorry for sort of necroing the thread, but I wanted to share some information.

Someone in the Vic3 Modding Co-op Discord ran into this issue earlier today. After we dug around, they've discovered that the game appears to crash if the Taiping Rebellion does not get any states in the South China strategic region. The historical commanders that are supposed to spawn have South China listed as their HQ region, and commenting out the HQ parameters supposedly resolves the issue. They get auto-assigned to a formation anyways, so defining it seems rather redundant at best and fatal at worst, and thus, I think it would be okay to delete them to resolve the bug.

Probably wouldn't be too difficult to set up an experiment with debug mode tools to validate it in a vanilla game. I can give it a try this weekend if it'd be helpful.
