OK, I downloaded the game from Steam with the latest patch. I have been experiencing crashes (at any random point in the game). The game either locks up (sound stutter with screen going into a million fragmants) or goes to blue windows error screen. I disabled processes, updated my driver NVidia 7950GT, lowered the settings as recommended, running DirectX 9. Still crashing. I love this game and want it to work. What can I do?

Sounds like a hardware or driver problem more than a bug in the game. Do you have any other 3D games that will stress your hardware to rule out possible issues with memory or overheating etc?
I play and run Sims3 and WoW on the system, Havn't had issues with them yet. I defragged last night for good measure. I'm wondering if I'm having registry errors. I'll try some other things here and post. I was thinking heat as well, but had the system shut off for a day and ran the game with the same results. I'll see what I come up with. I did install the lastest driver after initially experiencing this problem and it persists. I'm no computer guru, so I appreciate the insight. Like I said, I really do love this game. I have been looking for something like this since New Horizons on SNES.. lol
