Convert instead of aquire provinces?

Playing Turkey in GC, I went to war with Persia and Mamelukes and captured three Mameluke provinces. Went I went for peace, hoping to aquire the provinces, my only option was to convert the Mamelukes instead!

Now, I can see this happening historically, but, in game terms, what gives? I would rather have the provinces. Or will this help in the long run?

Just cancel the convertion offer and u will go to the normal diplomacy screen where u can demand provinces. At least it should be that way.

I have played Turkey a couple times in the GC, and this is in fact how it works. When you are asked if you want to convert, click no or cancel, whatever it is, and then you are taken to the normal diplomacy screen where you can annex the provinces. Don't be too quick to not convert tho, you recieve a bonus in VP's, and they are converted to your religion, which helps later, when you do finally annex them.

You can Cancel and get the normal diplomacy. You get big VP's for conversion but you only convert the state relgion and not the provinces. I had hoped for the latter to reduce my risk of revolt. IMHO, the real value is in doing this to the Persians since it will cause them no end of revolution troubles. My advice- score a very early win over the Malemukes and covert them for the VP and then, when the peace treaty expires, cream them for their provinces.
