I've noticed that upon conversion, some of your dukes become vassals in EU2, like Finland for example. I've noticed that you DON'T get cores on your vassals...is this right? I mean, isn't that area part of your kingdom?

In my instance I was playing Norway... does Sweden get cores on the Duke provinces, since those provinces are defined as part of "Kingdom of Sweden"?

In that case, I suggest that you should get cores on the duke lands as well, since the "natural" borders of your Kingdom has expanded.
