When attempting to load the game, it crashes on:

ERROR: unknown type in NavalDivision convoyattack = [an integer] line [x] of file:battleship.ext

I'm running windows XP SP2 with version 1.3a of HOI2.

battleship.txt is located here:
C:\Program Files\Paradox Interactive\Doomsday\db\units\divisions\

Removing all values for convoyattack throws an identical error in heavy_cruiser.txt.

Attempting the use the editor to save new values into convoyattack is fruitless.

You installed the wrong patch. You applied the hoi 2 patch, while you should have applied the doomsday patch. Reinstall from scratch, and apply the correct patch this time.
