Im looking to play a coop muliplayer of a single country of Canada.
Purhaps if possible break the country up into section

ARMY NAVY AIR and Government

I am new to this game and only tested 2 people playing one country and was wondering it more than 2 people can play one country?

It would help and if any one is interested. VNET is also back up.

I think the coop game is a great concept.

For a coop game it may be better to choose a major nation to play rather than Canada :).

And you need to have ONE LEADER ONLY in charge of strategic issues, tek, diplomacy and production.

Also splitting control into fronts or theatres rather than players commanding seperate arms of the forces may work better.
Good luck with your game :)

Coop is very effective, spesialy on biger countryes.

I have done coop a few times, and it demands a high capebilety and good skills in teamwork and comunication.

A possibly way to devide it can be into, Production, Tecnology - and devide the Armygroups into groups, for Defence, Reserve, Main Force, Spesial ops, and so on.
And assign a leader for eash group, or split it between the 2 or 3 ppl who are the current country.
I prefere coop with Voice comunication over msn or Roger Wilco, i have trayed thet 3 times, and think it is an exelent tool.

In the games i play (most of them) i have my brother sitting next to me, (not in the game, but next to me on a shear) and ceeping track on all paper work, production and resharsh lists and dates and plannings and so on, and im usualy Germany, so that relives me for a lot of work. But if 2 players is same country, example as Germany, 1 player to manage West front, and 1 for East front can be a good sulution. In all games i play Germany with the group im in, i always order the management of West front to Italyen or Romanien Player, that relives me, so i can focus on east front.

Its a great game, and still full of undiscoverd oppertunetyes...

travis, i understand you are a new player, but multiplayer games often go on slow speed and there is not much for 1 person to do playing canada. i think 2 players playing canada would be a bit boring. it does not have enough units (army air or sea) to keep one person busy until later in the game. you should try the whole country yourself. what is the worst that could happen? maybe fisheries might get mismanaged, government funds get lost etc. it is not like your igloos will get bombed if you don't have a co-op player helping.

My thoughts exactly ..... In this game Canada has nothin but 5 transport 1 dd and an 1918 upgrading to 1936 in the 1936 senario. where as in 1936 alot more the one army group was formed and alot more ships and transports.

back to topic yeah in the case of UK they had multiple roles
example
United Kindom
Home land =command
North Africa =command
South East asia =command

At this time Canada was shipping thousands of tons of supplies to UK and canada at this time and now is a resource rich country more so then this game would have it.

developing inrastructre in real life helps the production of resources by haveing the basic transportation of goods fast and more effective roads means 1million barrels make it to market a day then 10 million barrels. try dringing truck in the mud and then dringing truck on the road now times that by 10,000 km to market and shipping. infrastructure is vital to the production of raw materails ( oil metals and consumer goods )

Hey I like war games and country biulding sims but a country is only as good as its ability to ---> collect keep use and find resources.....

collect - extract from your own country
keep - storage and defend
use - get the supplies to where they need to be ( infrastructure )
that inculdes war and peace production

how can you make a tank when your metal is stuck on some crappy road

and find resource some countrys forest industry is bleak like CHINA and some are very important like in Canada
prospecting still goes on and the ability to find and market more resource is just standard economics.

oops off topic summary
Coop is cool Canada is a country I normally role play ( meaning not a war monger but a resource provider for war mongers )

and Canada has and had the regimental system not 1st Canadian Army Corp
more like .... lets see if I can past a few links
http://www.wartimememories.co.uk/allied/canadianarmy/

I took one from a UK site as to keep perpestive Ill get a local one from edmonton ...
http://www.lermuseum.org/ler/mh/index.html
The Loyal Edmonton Regiment ( which I served in 1997-1998 )

I could post more but in the end it will show that for a country of only 20 million at the time more then 1 million fought overseas

Prime Minister Mackenzie King’s said
"conscription if necessary, but not necessarily conscription"

including this bit which suprised me...

The Spanish Civil War (1936-1939) was a military rising originating in Morocco, headed by General Francisco Franco.

Over twelve hundred Canadian soldiers supporting Republican Spain took part in the Spanish Civil War to defend the Spanish Republic against the military rebellion led by General Franco and aided by Hitler and Mussolini. These men created a unique military unit: the Mackenzie-Papineau Battalion of the XVth International Brigade of the Spanish Republican Army: 'the Mac-Paps.'

* Germany, 5,000
* Poland, 4,000
* Italy, 3,500
* U.S. and Britain, 2,500 each
* Belgium, 1700
* Czechoslovakia, 1,500
* Canada, 1,200
* Yugoslavia, 1,200
* Latin America, 1,000
* Hungary, 1,000
* Scandinavia, 1,000
* Holland, 600
* Switzerland, 400

well to wrap it up most games can never bring all history into a game; real life is far to complex... but Canada having only one army unit ... and dismal resource value.... most of the united stats Uranmium came from Canada in fact there is a city northern Saskachewan called Uranium city

"$550-million-a-year uranium industry — the world’s single largest exporter"
excerp from web page.

oh well Canada was always known in those days as going from easily
going Dove to Hawk
Canadas ability to mobilies militia into an effective fighting force was evident in many military theaters.

I covered alot .... better wrap it up.
I like the game and hope to game with you guys some day.

you can take all what I said today with a grain of salt... I pushed the game hard to bring Canada out of peace mode and into war mode but it is not possible in this format. oh yeah Canadas ship biulding was made crazy during WW2.

Yeah I could use the extra money nowa days .....

I played a few games as Canada with varied levels of
( acceptance )

I am very forgiving when it comes to games as who makes a game perfict out of the baox these days.

some game company make it very close where as most fall short of ....

"I can't believe I spent money on [input game......]"

we all had those games....

and for some reason still play those games..

Birth of the federation
starwars Rebellion
Super power 1
super power 2
Imperail Glory
etc... etc... etc.....

right now my time is involved in this game....

I loved StarWars Rebellion but I have never encountered anybody that played it outside of my gaming circle. I wish someone would make a Rebellion 2.

LOL yeah you and me both but I know one other person that plays it and now you makes THREE

You're one of those crazy Canadians that want to see Canada as a selected country in Call of Duty aren't you? :p

I don't know much about Canada but did they have and OOB greater than USA in 1936? My first game was as Canada and I turned them into an effective fighting force ,12 infantry 3 armoured and 2 Marines (the other marine division was sunk at sea) but this surely matches historical Canada?

I did pretty much the same I had a
24 divisions mostly infantry 1943
1 armour
1 HQ
1 tactical bomber
1 stretegic bomber
6 Transport Ships
leaving 14 divisions of Infantry
That was by about 1944 summer
Instead of helping in Europe and Italy.
I went striaght for North West Africa and pushed my way up the coast where spain attack me?

Yeah I always want Canada Selectable in games.
Even in some strat games WW1 where (The Dominion of Canada) sent troops to fight under British Commands and outfits. They sometimes recognised and input our flag ( reb with the little britsh in the top left corner ). That was cool. We where there; even if it is a shoe shine boy in the rear with the gear I still want to be Canada.

Just one Canadain Showing pride in ones Country

As anyone one else would for there country. so naturally I spot little things in games about my native country.

When it comes to Order of battle Canada was at a massive reorg stage
making most active units disbanded put into Malita or Garrison duty
every weekend they would train since 1922 and war opened up in Europe
a structure was already in place and mobilization was done within a month.

That was why Canada was known for going from dove to hawk so quickly in the years of war time. its not really reflected in this game. our man power and the ability to get replacments are reflected as after I made those 24 division and did some heavy engagements I had to pull back because I didnt have the pool of man power back at home to reenforce my divisions.
and I neery really got into call of duty at that time i was and still play
Raven shield and expainsions.

I have a lan network set up. My friend and I are playing our first coop. So we took Germany and I have never had so much fun.I take care of economy and land offensives. He takes care of airforce and navy and atlantic wall defence. I tell him my plans and he sends waves of airgroups over my head. He tells me what he needs and I make it for him. It makes playing the comp AI much more interesting. Although we've had a couple arguements over undefended airfields and the nonexistant air superiority we supposedly had.
All in all it makes multi theater play more managable and fun!!!!

Thats my fav part of gaming is cooperation. Some people just prefer economy some prefer the offensive, some even prefer to defend, some just like navel power that could rival todays navys, and some like air power. Diplomacy is one more factor which can be tied into the economy part.

the multiply browser has much to be desired though....

i live being able to not do the land battle and just watch and do the planes. I find myself more and more being small minor countries in single player and seeing how I can effect the larger evvents around me. the multi player shar e countries is the same type of idea. great addition hoi2!!!!!!!!!!

Hmm, this is an interesting thought. I have a friend I MP with that seems to really only be interested in waging war...might have to run playing Coop by him. Let him manage the ground forces and I'll manage all the other stuff :D Canada wouldn't be the choice for this though. You'd have to go with a more active major minor...like Italy at least.
