I would like to get another copy of "Historical Events Monarch.csv" off of my CD. However, I do not find it, and I cannot open the CAB files with the typical windows tools. Is there a trick to getting files off of the CD cabs (or can I get this file elsewhere)?

.cab files can be read and extracted from by Winzip or any other standard archiving/unarchiving utility.

I would have thought so too, but my WinZip 8.0 refuses to open them, claiming that they are not of the standard format. Has anyone else had this problem, or am I just hallucinating at the desktop?

Indeed, I eventually did take the copy off of my hard drive. However, I had originally wanted to get the "crisp", "clean" CD version of the file, (I have developed several tools for EU, some of which alter this file - although the date stamp was good enough to convince that I had an unaltered original, I had hoped to get an absolutely clean version of the file to test with, before I submitted an application to beta-testers on this forum). I was surprized that the CAB system would not let me access it. But then, this issue has now dwindled into one of idle curiosity...

Well, that makes sense.

If you're still looking for a CAB utility, I'd try nosing around @ microsoft.com. CAB is mickeysofts' standard archive utility. They should have something there that will work.
