Information

I have disabled all mods

Yes

Required

Summary

[copy/paste from steam thread 28 May, since it's still an issue as of today, 2 July, thought I'd report here]. Okay, so today I started a new scenario (I've had to repeat them to unlock achieves etc since I lost the saves from my last laptop). I started a brand new game, then saved it twice (I always do one at the beginning and a second for ongoing saves). I went back to the main menu, and noticed that the files both have the "no achieves" symbol on them. I am aware achieves turn off when mods are used. Here's the thing, though: I do not have, and have never had, any third party mods on my game. I also do not have, and have never had, any of the in-game mods (like hard mode, oil etc) turned on. I also literally only did 1 thing in the game: Start new--> saved --> exited, so this cannot be explained by something like, say, getting a bailout for the city--unless that happened when the devs were setting up the scenario? I verified my files, then repeated the process and replicated the bug. I did double check to make sure all of the ingame mod options were not selected. I then repeated the exact same steps with the ferry Empire scenario to see if this would have the same problem; it did not. So it seems to be a bug with the Fix the Traffic scenario. I have not had this happen before; I've played this scenario twice in the past. The only new things are two free updates since I last played this scenario, plus I added the following DLCs: Plazas and Promenades, Airports and CCP: Seaside Resorts.

Expected Result

Achievements available in scenario

Actual Result

No achievements available in scenario

Steps to reproduce

See above. Opened new games, reinstalled game, verified files, tried again after a patch, same result.

Platform

Steam

Game Version

1.17.1f4, also on previous versions running on 28 May AUEST 2023 but the issue was NOT apparent pre-DLCs installed above.

Optional

Description

See above. Reproduced again today, 2 July 2023 AUEST. I do not use mods. Never have. Achievements have never been "unavailable" before for me. ONLY on this scenario. Have opened/saved every other traffic scenario and no problem (also received the centurion achievement while playing the ferries scenario from the Mass Transit pack. NB: I did notice on the Ferries scenario that all passengers in all of the new sized ferries did NOT count for the 250k passengers, but as that was not game/achievement breaking like this bug I just wore the extra time it took ;) ]

The only time achievements get disabled is if you take a bailout (Usually early on)

Also, you must unsubscribe all workshop mods and disable default in-game mods (modes), or achievements are disabled.

Maybe try using the option flags: --noWorkshop --disableMods (exact spelling) and start a new scenario (fix the traffic).

Good luck.

FYI, I did the fix the traffic scenario when disasters dlc released without issues.

Yes, I'm aware of that, and yes, I have done this scenario before as well (twice), when the Mass Transit stuff originally dropped. I didn't, however, do all 3 MT scenarios on my old laptop for the MT achievement and now I'm achievement chasing before CS2 drops. :)

I will say again (just in case I wasn't clear enough on my OP :) ), this only happens on this exact scenario: Fix The Traffic. Save it, and the wee icon that says achieves are disabled is on the save file. Immediately. Nothing done except "new game --> scenario --> save game x 2 --> exit game." Nothing done, not even a road added. The achievements are disabled on this scenario--and only this scenario--before you even start the scenario (so no, no bailout, either because I haven't even touched that silly roundabout yet). Even on a new install. Verified files. No mods. All other scenarios do not have the "no achieves" icon on the save file--not the others from the Mass Transit scenarios, not on the Disaster scenarios, not on the Green Energy scenarios.

I have no mods and have never had any mods. I have done, and checked this. I say again, no mods, NEVER HAD MODS. Checked thrice. Deleted all previous saves before trying again. Did not save over previous saves, and also tried saving over the previous bugged saves. No go, either way.

I have managed to reproduce the issue 5 times in total. If required, I can append a screenshot.

This is a new bug. Because the scenario has the "no scenarios" icon, I can only imagine it will not count for the "complete the three MT scenarios" achieve, which is all I'm after, really.

It IS a bug. No other scenarios are affected.

Okay, so as not to seem contrary, I did try these flags, and no go, unfortunately, because this is not the problem (because, say it after me.... ;) ).

I have reproduced the issue again. Screenshots attached.

As you can see, I have 2 saved "fix the Traffic" and "Fix the traffic 1" saves I tried again after making my last post. You can see the achieve symbol with the circle/line through it. Below that save, you can see the Trains save on the scenario I started just after making my OP here--as you can see, it's fine. I have changed nothing between that play session and what I just did: opened game, new game, scenario, FTT, saves x 2, exit, screenshots. Just for fun, after making the FTT saves, I started another scenario (Alpine Village) immediately after those FTT new game saves and it is, likewise, perfectly fine. The scenario achieve tracker for this scenario is bugged.

I should note that I am not the only person who has had this issue.
"This happened right after starting the scenario."
Answer: "This is because you got a bailout."
"Er, no?"
No solution as yet?

I just launched it and it does the same thing. It starts out fine and says achievements are enabled still.

But as soon as I save it, it says achievements disabled.

The Fix the Traffic scenario seems fine itself. Did you finish it in time and get scenario success? Or does it always give you a fail even though you completed the whole thing?

There's only two win cons and that is 32k pop and 82% traffic flow.

I don't have enough time to fully run the scenario today. Maybe this evening I can try to do the whole thing.

Okay. No. Don't run the scenario. That is not the problem. I'll try again.

Finishing the scenario is not the issue. That's perfectly fine. The scenario can be done. I have done so. Twice.

But, because the achievements are not enabled for this scenario--the bug--finishing the scenario successfully does not count to the "do all three Mass Transit scenarios successfully" achievement, which I am trying to get. To wit: successfully do the Trains scenario (done), do the Ferry scenario (done) and do the MT scenario (done, but DOES NOT COUNT because the achievements are not enabled). And the achievements not being enabled is an issue with the scenario itself, not the end-user's actions or inactions. ie, it is something that needs to be fixed on paradox's end.

Yes, it seems a Colossal Order issue and the devs need to fix it. I'm surprised it wasn't fixed long ago, as it was reported, at least, in 2018.

Indeed.

Out of curiosity, since you said up there that in your opening of the scenario, the achievements didn't become unavailable until you saved it, so I thought, okay, what if I do it in one sitting w/o saving it? So, I did. As you can see, below, I won the scenario (again). But, despite having also won the other 2 MT scenarios as well, the "Totally In Motion" (win all 3 MT scenarios) did not pop (and the days/nights probably didn't count towards my 1001 nights achieve, either, she says sadly).

The autosave also had the "no achievements" icon on it.

I don't have any hope that this bug, which has existed since 2018 and doesn't seem to have even been investigated, will be fixed. So I might have to install my very first mod after I've finished the other achieves: the mod that allows you to get achieves while having mods (laugh).

LOL, I did the same thing yesterday but, I did it on my account by mistake so, I couldn't confirm as I have did the achievement already.

So, I did it again on my Dad's account and got the credit. And I did the ferry one as well. I haven't done the last one on my test, but I'm sure I will get the same result as you did.

Also, 1001 nights must be done completely on 1 single save. You can't switch to a different save to continue. You may have already figured that one out.

Oh? I knew the centurion one had to be done on a single save, but wasn't aware the 1001 nights one had to be. I thought, surely not, because on full speed that's, what, about 150 hours of play? Yikes. I've never put that many hours into a single city (then again, I've only played about 370-odd hours in total, since I do play other games and use my gaming lappy for work as well). And I used to turn day/night5 off anyway because I cannot see a thing during the night cycle. :)

So is the person who made this post incorrect (down where they edited), then? If so, I'll reassess. ;)

Yeah, I did the 1001 night over the weekend. It took roughly 72 hours at x3 speed. Currently the game can do faster. The old x3 was about 3-seconds per 24-hours, and now it is around 2.5 seconds per 24 hours.

I realized this after hitting 1001 days on a regular map without the achievement, and figure it was an actual day/night cycle. So I let run over the weekend and got the achievement.

Someone used a time mod to do it much, much quicker. I forget which one, as it was so long ago. You would need the achievement mod to do it with mods.
