Solution (sort of)

Edit: My solution turned out to be a failure. The mouse seems to work at moments then just stop working. its a conflict some where and not hardware, as it only happens in EUII. I cant get by this and I've tried everything. Does anyone know why i would be having such a hard time. Some times it wotks in the main menue but it freezes when you change screens sometimes and during play (if I can get it to work) it freezes.

There really is a support forum. On the forum list, go down past the EU2 section, past the EU1 section, past some other section until you reach the support section. The people in the Support forum are great, and can probably fix you up in no time.

cordless problems

I also have problems....I have a logitech cordless optical mouse. It works, but its a bit slow and it tends to freeze for half a second sometimes

This is the support forum.

For Viper, I also have a cordless logitech mouse and keyboard :D

you go there and you tell me wich keyboard it is; there are a dozen different cordless keyb :D

For the others with optical cordless mouse:
http://www.logitech.com/cf/support/mouselist.cfm

there are four different cordless mice, pick the right one, download and install the software and if it still doesn't work, follow their instructions on how do diagnose your problem.

If nothing help come back here :)

The mouse works fine and i have their latest software. It just doesnt seem to want to work in europa. When I run EUII it works for a bit (normally it does sometimes it doesnt work at all) then stops when i leave EUII it has done something so the mouse doesnt work at all and under the cordless tab of the mouse software it is all greyed out as if there is no cordless feature. I have to reboot.

As I said, there are 4-5 different cordless mouse, I need to know exactly wich one it is.

I didn't find the model #...
On their site they give the names:

  1. Cordless Mice
    Cordless MouseMan® Optical
    Cordless Optical Mouse
    Cordless Mouse Special Edition
    Cordless Mouse
    Cordless TrackMan® FX
    Cordless TrackMan® Wheel
    TrackMan® Live!™

do you know wich one it is?

And have you checked the running problems thread on top of the forum? If not, than check it and post me your config please :)

It is the Cordless mouse one.

Na version 1.04 of EUII
win 98 se
PIII 667
384 mb
5 gigs free hard drive space
tnt2 aladin video card
third party soundcard emulates a soundblaster (i dont know exactly sorry)
DVD-ROM 12x - Aopen (dont know the model number)
my ethernet card is a onboard the motherboard

Like i said before the mouse runs great and Europa runs great they just dont run together.

Is this what you needed?

1) What is you Direct X version? I might be completely off the road, but I kinda suspect a problem with DX Input... since you're not alone with mouse problems and since some people have experienced problems with keyboards...

2) try uninstalling Logitech Software and "running" your mouse like a standard PS2/Serial/USB mouse.

My DX version is 8.1, I should also add that i have the latest patches from microsoft for win 98 se.

If you mean just install the driver for the logitech without the mouse ware software then I have already tried that. I thought that it might be a conflict with that software but it still failed.

Could the driver itself be the problem? As in its not getting the info to or from EUII or would that be a DX problem?

I haven't try with the latest cordless mice, but with the old ones, you could simply install MS driver for a standard mouse and it would work (i.e.,nothing from Logitech).

I am suspecting a DX problem, but before I have you remove your DX version to instal DX 8.0a (8.1 is buggy on Win98 and creates other problems with the game, like increase crashes in many cases) I'd like you to try without any logitech drivers; only a standard one from MS.

If it still the doesn't work, check the thread "usefool tools and links" and download DX Buster do remove Direct X 8.1 and install DX 8.0a (found on the same site).

exactly what driver is that the ms one from windows? The cordless mouse is USB and will the ms driver be able to handle a usb mouse? I know when i first booted up the computer with the usb mouse attached (before loading any software it didnt seem to realize it was there until I loaded the logitech software.

Perhaps I'm missing something.

Also I realy dont want to remove DX 8.1 when it works better in other programs i have than 8.0a.

hmm. Win98SE should handle USB devices by default... My mouse is USB (not cordless) and it's working...

it's possible that it isn't working with your cordless mouse however strange it is.

I'll have to check again; I'm running out of ideas.
