Anybody else gettin a crash with "Denmark surrenders event". I can't get past this event in my game, no matter how often do I try, the game always crashes
 
I am seeing wo bugs in the game, one for some reason the event Canada's RCAF modernization event, inquire about purch of the PVYs keeps repeating after it was done, the second not sure if it was event driven, but Germany just invaded Poland, country I am guaranteeing freedom and... nothing, no event, so far, and no auto declaration of war.
If necesary let me know where the saves (folderwise) are and to whom to fowrward

There is no need for any - you just do it yourself. CORE is also about choices you make so you can also act in ahistorical way.

Actually I was concerned about the fact that in spite of being guarantor of polands independence War wasn't triggered. Can bypass it either declaring war or making the polish join the alliance, but it is kinda annoying, not to mention a bug. Not sure if it is a CORE or AoD bug though

We need to reproduce this.

Does it immediately crash or if you confirm the message that popped up ?

It crashes immediately, as soon as the event pops up. That is, it crashed, I tried a couple more times and after 4th or 5th try it worked OK (!?)

It's a CORE thing but not a CORE bug. It's meant to work that way. As UK your GoI to Poland allows you to declare war on GER without penalty, but it doesn't compel you to declare war. CORE starts from the premise that if you're playing a nation such decisions are (for the most part) yours to make and should not be foisted upon you by the system.

Good to know, I was sorta expecting an event prompting choice of honoring the treaty, which should be the default way of dealing with war declared against countries you guarantee their freedom. But, just my thoughts.

While on it, anybody noticed that trades are either 100% or 0% or that the AI tends to disrupt them (oil specially) a lot? I really can´t wait to see synthetic plants incorporated into the game (yeah, the world was exiting the great depression, but come on, oil shortages really didn't happen till the seventies when OPEC started being an ass)
 
The all or nothing trade system is a feature of AoD - much discussed in a number of threads. CORE just rolls with it.

When you say that the AI tends to disprupt them do you mean that your AI trade partners often cancel trade agreements? I've experienced a number of cancellations but I don't think any more than occur in Arma. Since the AoD system is optimised for money-based trades (i.e. you get better trades by 'buying' the resources with money) however, it's possible that barter agreements might be dumped if money-based offers come along. Be interesting to test that out.

Still there seems to be an endemic lack of oil in this CORE version. Sure it is an strategic resource but it just feels the stores keep getting lower and lower. Would really love an energy conversion slider, specially since I normaly have +100K of it
 
Does anyone else notice that many starting trades are missing from the initial setup? For example, the 13 trades set up for England with the rest of the world do not appear at the game setup. JAP also has the same problem. However, Germany has most of its trades. At first, I thought the game was ignoring trades with puppets (ENG and JAP) but I found trades between majors and minors missing at random order through the scenario file. Even if I take a working trade between CAN and USA and change USA to ENG, the trade does not appear at setup.

I checked the vanilla version of AOD and JAP has the same problem of trades not appearing. I am using 1.04.

Naval Infantry Activation

JAP cannot build naval infantry since there is no activation command for the "marines" unit unless you want actual marines instead of naval infantry like the starting OOB. I recommend adding

to the naval infantry tech (id = 8060) in the naval doctrines.

Wait for January 2, 1936, and check again. The trades should be there (AoD issue, nothing to do with CORE, and not a problem really).
 
No "setup" trades appear in day 2 or 3. Only the AI initiated trades. Anyway, it is an issue with AOD not Core anyway. The various AI countries do not seem to failing without them.

I have checked various event files for Japan & naval construction and can't find anything that activates them.

A few other notes:

The JAP convoy raiding by groups of 10 subs ineffective until I attacked DEI in 1942. Then, I sink 1 convoy a month but nothing for USA or ENG. For CHina in 1938-40, I had most of fleet and starting sub force in groups of 10 or more but I could not sink a single convoy for China. I have never received a spotted but too heavily defended convoy.

The naval warfare is lacking. Carrier battles (JAP vs USA with '42 doctrines) result in mostly evil stares at each other fleets. o_O They routinely do not target each other. The fleets that get a target only last for 2 hours then become non-targeting. It takes days before a ship is sunk. Surface actions are a little more exciting but carriers routinely join the battle to stop the carnage. Additionally, I wish that I could stop my own fleets from retreating. It seems larger fleets cause smaller fleets to retreat despite having superior ships and no damage. This seems a mechanism of AOD because I never had this problem with HOI2:DDARM.

Anyway just some feedback for interesting game.
 
I can confirm everything above about the naval war. SAGs seem to be much more effective at killing enemy ships as carriers seem to have problems targeting after the initial salvo. Playing as Germany with all HSKs, BCs, about 40 subs on convoy raiding, and the Kreigsmarine with the original units plus a CV and CVL on NCP, I have yet to get a convoy down, though over the course of the war I have lost over 100 of mine. Most related doctrines are done and the effciency for convoy raidind is 140% or so. Two other strange things, one, the HSK seem to be the best ships I have for taking out other ships, probably because of the 0 visibility. They are attacked, but then go to 1 KM and can attack anything with impunity. In about a month, they have sunk a light cruiser and severly damaged several destroyers and a battleship. And two, when I switched to GB in the save game, I suddenly started losing convoys, even though absolutly nothing happens when I play as the Germans.
 
It seems that we will need to be tweaking the combat values for ground units as well as naval due to the changes in the AoD patches. The CORE team have ported over CORE 0.40 from Armageddon to AoD with the necessary changes to make it compatible to a fair degree. The problem is that we wanted you to have a game now rather than one later on and make you all wait for too long so the version we released for AoD is ideally suited for AoD 1.02. There is still a great deal of balancing and tweaking to be done and we are in the process of testing revised values to be included in CORE 0.50 for AoD. This will be specifically aimed at patch 1.04 for AoD.

Please keep an eye on air combat as well and report any unusual behaviour or effects in this thread. And keep the reports coming in! The more suggestions and observations you all make the better the mod will be once it is fully compatible.
 
In terms of the dormant Japanese naval units, there is nothing wrong. They are just there in the INC file, waiting for us to actually write the rest of the events to use them. There are quite a few such units (naval reserves and other stuff) in quite a few INC files - easier to have the units ready and waiting for the events, than the other way round.
