A complete run down of the problem can be viewed in the CORE .2 release thread since I originally thought that CORE was causing this problem.
Sorry for all the quotes. It seemed better than starting from square one.
EDIT: I'm not the only one with this problem.
I was getting three error messages.
First:![]()
Second:![]()
But instead of a third error message, then crashing (sometimes it crashed before the third.) It started up semi-normally. However I had my old CORE saves (1.1)
It's a really strange couple of messages, since neither of those files are supposed to exist in the original HoI2 (and thus not in CORE), but only in Doomsday - and thus should not be able to be called either through HoI2 or Doomsday. Can you run vanilla HoI2 1.3b?
Whoa. I hadn't tried untill you asked. Same error messages. Goofy.
I see what it is now. I have both HoI and DD installed to my computer. It's that new 1.2 DD patch. You can't select an install location and I trusted the installer to find the right one. It installed to Hearts of Iron 2 instead of to Doomsday. I have NO idea how to fix this problem.
That's not completely true - I have both DD and HoI2 installed next to each other (default suggested folders) and have no problem running HoI2 after patching DD to 1.2. On the other hand, I haven't touched my HoI2 installation after installing and then patching DD (other than new versions of CORE, but that's not related).No. The problem has been identified. Apparently if you try to patch DoomsDay while you have Hearts of Iron 2 installed you patch Hearts of Iron 2 instead. Thus ruining your HoI2, and leaving your DD unpatched.
However, my suggestion would be to take your problem up with Paradox technical support and try and figure out with them what's gone wrong with the 1.2 patching. Good luck and hope to see you playing CORE soon (I'm grateful, in a way, that it wasn't CORE that was responsible for this!).
