To bad, so I will stay torn apart between the great E3 map and the perfect tech tree, AI, events and settings of CORE. :(
Cegorach's CORE improvement pack for AoD is E3 compliant, as I recall...

Unfortunatelly it is not.

When I've moved to the AoD I had to adjust to the old map once again...

buggy and unbalanced but playable

Hi,
You can help us with the development of CORE 0.50 for AoD 1.05 by being a bit more specific. One problem we have run into in the current development is a bug where save files cannot be read in with CORE.

If you have installed CORE 0.49 into AoD 1.05 - can you read save files?

Actually, the misc.txt should crash the game but that can be handled.

Does CORE fix the Build Order for Germany? I mean, endless spam of infantry and depletion of MP? Really, my impression with AOD was very postive, only thing I was a bit dissapointed was with the Naval AI and the fact that Germany spams hundreds of Inf and has no MP by 1942.

I'm looking into CORE for the first time (got AOD around christmas). I am playing with the 1.05 patch which means that CORE is not compatible, right? CORE .5 goes with AOD 1.05 if I'm reading everyhting correctly.

SO then when 1.06 comes out, will CORE be incompatible with it? WIll I have to stay with 1.05 to use CORE or upgrade to 1.06 and not have CORE?

As you can tell, I'm confused. Thanks for the help and looking forward to trying out the MOD.

Hi Conan,

CORE 0.49 works for the 1.05 patch but is only a basic working version and hasn't been tweaked for all of the features for AoD. It will still work though, although the game will lack balance. It might be a good way to play and get used to the new features of the CORE mod.
We are currently working on a 0.50 version of CORE, which will be compatible with the 1.06 AoD version when it is released. This has involved a lot more balancing by the CORE team as well as beta testing to sort out any bugs/AI problems/balancing issues. As always, we will be constantly working on improving CORE as the newer releases of AoD are brought out.
To sum up, my advice is to install CORE 0.49 with the 1.05 AoD patch and get used to the new tech trees, features etc. so you will be able to jump right into 0.50 when it is released.
Hope you enjoy your CORE experience!

Thanks el-

Clicked on your CORE download link. QUick question...

DO I need to download the basic installer, black and white and color pack? All three or just the first one?

Also, when you say "lack balance", what exactly does that mean? Just wanting a small heads up.

Thanks for the responce by the way.

Sorry for what is probably a dumb question, but I downloaded all three files into my AOD folder and I see them there in the directory, but nothing has changed with the game. When I select any of the file's it asks me what program I want to use to open them.

SHould I have put them in a MOD file? I am obviously messing up somehow, but I'm not sure how.

Thanks for the help. I am a mod newbie.

Hi Conan

You can install either the black and white graphics pack or the colour pack - it's a personal preference really. Hagar has done a fantastic job of recolouring tech images and leader files, so it's worth checking out just for the wow factor. You can actually install just the 0.49 CORE file which includes basic graphics, but the black and white/colour packs really add to the experience.

The lack of balance means that Teghettoff modified the basic CORE mod from Armageddon so it would work with AoD but it wasn't polished to include all of the new features that are in Aod eg. Artillery, new trade and economics etc. so you may find some countries are overpowered, while others are underpowered. You will still get a pretty solid game, but some strange results may occur.

With regard to your download - once you install the CORE file as normal into your AoD directory, it should then copy the CORE files into a separate directory, leaving your original AoD game intact. You can then run the game with the shortcut that the installer creates on your desktop. This is called moddir and means that the mod is separate from the original game. You can then play either without any issues/crashes occurring.

We are here to help, so keep the questions coming if you are unsure about anything. :)

EDIT - Just remembered that 1.05 had issues with CORE save games not reloading due to the moddir setup, you can probably try running an earlier version of AoD - 1.04? or alternatively try the 1.06beta which is available in the AoD Tech Support forum.

Hope this helps,
El Alamein

OK,when I downloaded the Core .49 file it asked me where to save it too. I initially selected my downloads folder, but when I selected on the file it asked me how to open it, so I couldn't do anything with it.

So I re-downloaded the file and put it in the AOD directory (C:/programs files/Arsenol of democracy). It downloaded but no installer came up either time. WHen I clicked on it, got the same message as above.

SO not sure what I am doing wrong that it won't "install" or "unpack" itself. It is just a file in my AOD directory.

Thanks for the continued help.

Hmmm not sure what is going on there - the 0.49 file should be an .exe file which you can install to a downloads folder, then open it and install CORE into your Arsenal of Democracy folder. You may have downloaded the .rar version of 0.49 which means you have to unpack it using winzip or winRAR. I would recommend the .exe version which is easier to manage.

Let me know how it goes for you!

Perhaps the file needs to be renamed into .exe first... I do recall that being an issue a while back.

How do I rename it into an exe file?

Just figured it out. :)

Yep that was it. I'm going to try it our now.

Awesome that you guys put time and effort into creating something new and cool.

Well crap. Loaded the Core 4.9 into my c:\prgram files (x86)\arsenal of Dem. file but when I click onthe shortcut or the app in the MOD-core2 folder, it goes through the intro then says game no longer working and shuts donw before getting to the menu screen. Did I put it in the wrong folder or place? At first it was trying to put it in my paradox folder, but I got an error saying cannot put where there are " : / %, etc. signs ". SO I browsed and put it in my AOD folder.

ANy suggestions? I'm, getting closer :)

Try moving tha game out of your program folder, conan. Having it located there seems to screw things up for many users. Also, I believe you need to start CORE from the desktop shortcut - the app in the Mod folder won't do it.
