Hi,

did anyone tried to install Armageddon over Hoi2-DD v1.3?

Will CORE still work normally or is it better idea to install Armageddon separately and leave DD with CORE upgrade alone?

Since Armageddon introduces new variables into the misc.txt file (for starters), the result is a CTD, since the modified CORE version of misc.txt doesn't have those new variables.

For now, I'd leave CORE to run in a "normal" DD version, and await developments for Armageddon. CORE 0.30 may still be DD, but a "0.31" for Armageddon should follow on fairly quickly - or there is even a possibility (depending on feedback) that 0.30 itself might be Armageddon spec'ed, but that will depend on how things go.

Heh - well, I think that may be unlikely right now, seeing as how we have gone into Beta testing for 0.30 for DD. Partly, of course, because Armageddon seems to have a number of issues - some of which (reportedly) include the fact that mod-dir is broken. Since CORE uses mod-dir, we won't be going to an Armageddon variant until we know for sure that is working.

Just copy ur directory and rename Doomsday Core or whatever and drop core right into that folder

note ive always had to this, as ive never gotten mod mode or whatever to work multiplayer (same with 2 of my friends)

That is fine for you to do, if you so wish, but that is not how CORE plans to go, in general terms - the mod is based on using the mod-dir functionality. We did look at making a Multi-Player version back with previous versions, so it *may* come along in due course.. but it is not our number one priority. Mod-dir doesn't work for MP games, as I understand it, so if you wish to play such, then you will have to do this copy and paste option.

Right now, we will try to get a functional version of the Single Player game, initially for DD 1.3a. An Armageddon conversion may then follow along quite soon thereafter.. but I think we will wait for some of Armageddon's less wonderful "features" to be fixed first.

Given that you have to pay to get Armageddon, actually, I wouldn't have said that it was everyone's preference. We are testing compatibility with Armageddon, but at the moment, any such compatibility is likely to be functional, rather than fully featured, shall we say.

Armageddon seems still quite buggy so I'd like to see the CORE team waiting for the fixes for it until you really start doing the conversion to Armageddon. After all, there has been only 1 (?) version for DD itself yet. Was the 0.30 (that eagerly awaited one) supposed to fully embrace all new attributes of DD for the first time?

That's exactly what we're doing. ;)
