I'd recommend separate installs, there's a difference in German manpower which will make the SP game easier if you use the MP version.

Steel, I allready tried to do a seperate install because I like the SP and offcourse the MP but when i install one on my pc and I try another installation of the game I can not do that because there is allready one installation of the cd... So I suppose it is possible, but can you tell me how?

You are referring to the actual HoI installer refusing to install a second copy? The easiest workaround would be to simply make a copy of the original HoI install (ie copy the entire installation into another directory). For each new mod or patch you can create new copies of the ..\Hearts of Iron directory and install into the new copy. That way you'll not need the original CD again.
