I know that many of you are hanging on the edges of your seat waiting for CORE2, so I figured that I would let you know what is happening behind the curtain...
We have finished all of the tech trees that are going to be completed for the first release of CORE2.
Now that the tech trees are finished, we have started converting all of the individual inc (nation set-up) files into the new standard. Last time I looked (Monday night) we were through Hungary for minor nations (working through them alphabetically) and have finished the UK and the US for major nations.
There are some new graphics which have been completed which reflect the new tech trees and units. There aren't many graphics and none of these are new sprites. If there is someone out there that does sprites, let us know.
There are some new events and people are writing more every day. For the most part, the new events (and converted events) are something that will be a part of a later update (probably the second one).
There are also some things that need to be done. We have to finish the inc files. We are finishing those at a rate of two or three minor nations a day. Once we have the inc files complete, an installer needs to be constructed and tested.
When an installer is constructed as an internal release we need to do some internal testing for stability and watch for game play issues that need to be fixed. Although we realise that y'all would be perfectly happy to do this internal testing, the consensus is that we need to have a release that is at a minimum of stable with no major gameplay issues. We will not find every problem and you will all be beta testers in a sense where we will rely on you to report problems that you see.
I hope that everyone realizes that this will not be the polished product that you saw with releases 0.8 and 0.9 of CORE1. That product was the result of over two years of construction and tweaking. I have faith that we will accomplish more with CORE2 that we ever dreamed of accomplishing with CORE1, and you will be the ones that take us there.
I am sure I can speak for the rest of our core of CORE2 developers in thanking you for your patience and support during development. MDow
